It's amazing what you can find out about someone within minutes

If you have not read my first post, I will fill you in. I work as a Photo Tech/ Cashier at C.V.S.

Work has it's ups and downs and overally, its more good than bad. I mean there are certain customers and co-workers that help me through each shift. it's mainly a combination of the two. it just gets me down though when customers come into my line and are complete grouches. it tends to bring me down. i'm glad that i rarely deal with those kind of people.

Every once in a while we ask customers to donate to charitable causes. Any chance i get, i ask anyone i think will contribute. there are 3 kinds of people that you will face: the kind that says "not right now". this really bugs me. are you going to wait for all of these unfortunate terminally ill children die from something so greatly beyond their control? The minimum donation is a dollar. And it gets to me when someone hands me a twenty for a pack of gum and won't give a ONE DOLLAR DONATION. right... on to the second kind of person, this customer will use the excuse that they already donated. Okay, first of all, congrats that you did, but each donation is a dollar, that's not exactly a whole lot. although every bit counts, they shouldn't exactly be free from donating for the rest of the year.sigh. Ok and then there's this warm-hearted type who gives and gives;quite rare indeed. This kind soul will give you a twenty dollar donation when you only ask for a measly one dollar one. This particular category person, always makes my day. it's a feeling of hope that there are self-less human beings out there and the human race isn't completely hopeless.

Which type are you? Have you experienced this? Feedback Welcomed!

over and out,

I have seen all those type of people. When I can give I really try but when I can it sucks because people do look at you like your less than. it does not bother me because I know do the best I can to help other people.

At least the grouches don't bring your hopes down or discourage you from continuing. Keep it up. Your doing a good thing by trying to help kids.

during the charity seasons and as a cashier I agree 100% with you however. As the sometimes charitble customer I beg you to hear me out. I always try to donate double or even triple the amount asked for. I feel really good about myself when I do. Then there are times I really can't donate. I've been that person before that said "no" and then handed a $20 for a small purchase, but the only reason I said no,\ was because even though I know deep down the charity needs it more than me, that $20 mayby all i have until the next pay day.

No doubt there are grouchy, inconsiderate folks in this world that don't do anything to help others out. Selfish. The will reap whatever rewards, if any, as time passes and they need something only to have to look in the mirror and deal with karma. Others of us, who don't donate the dollar when asked, sometimes have a rational reason why we don't. I for one don't because I don' t know where my dollar is going. There are a lot of charities that collect money and never put that money back into the community like they say they are going to. Just take a look at all of the money donated for the Hurricane Katrina folks, where did any of that funding go? Surely, we can see from updated news casts that New Orleans and LA are still in shambles. I could go on, but you can look up the statistics on how much of people's hard earned warm heartedly donated money has never made it into the hands of the needy that the charity promises to distribute.

and do not go into the store to be solicited. I write checks to the organizations that I want to give to, the biggest being St. Jude's. I will give when I want and often, but it doesn't make me grumpy or not caring if I won't give a dollar at the store...

At Lane Bryant, they have an option to round up your purchase to an even dollar amount and donate the change amount that takes to a charity called Keep Kids Warm. I have yet to say no, and I hope it's going where it's needed.

I don't need drugs - I have genetics.

I always want to give money to everyone that asks, but I must say I'm one of those people who say "I already donated". I do, every year, multiple times a year in fact, I give, but I give in ways that I feel do more than just that $1. I give blood, volunteer time, and do as much as possible close to home. I know all charities are important, but that is how I give, so I ask that even if it is disappointing, please don't judge those who don't give that day, because sometimes times we have good reason.

Thank you for caring so much for charities though. It makes you a very good person.

Think about it...
