ENVY: desire for someone else's stuff, position, life, or talents.
![]()
It is time for part two of my seven part 7 Deadly Sins series The Heathen's Guide to. Currently I am taking a break from scrutinizing every little detail of those expensive dresses the stars were wearing last night at the Oscars. I would look so much better in all of them if I had their money, and their fame, and their lives.
Although it may seem as if that particular event has got me a little green-eyed, I notice I am not the only individual being affected right now. Primaries '08 is attempting to wind down and Election '08 is fast upon us. Evidence would now suggest that another woman is suffering similar emotions. Yes, you probably guessed (damn, I want your intelligence) that I am referring to Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Some people have taken time to muse why we envy and are jealous of others and what factors contribute to comparing ourselves to certain individuals. Apparently having parallels in life leads to this comparison. For instance, someone that is your same age is likely to bring about feeling of envy. I guess that would explain my jealousy of Hillary Duff.
Barak Obama has thus far managed to bring about an upset to the Clinton campaign. According to The New York Times Election Guide 2008, updated last on February 19th, Obama currently leads on 24 states (compared to Clinton's 13). And in most of the states Clinton does have a lead in the margin is less than 20%, while Obama's leads are usually above 20%.
Now the Clinton campaign is sweating. Seriously, you can see the beads of perspiration under those stage lights. The trouble is they have lost what strong points they once had to use against Obama and are stuck with possible tactics that could do more harm than good. Some in the Clinton campaign are looking for the media to do the dirty work for them. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case as many media outlets are finding themselves drawn to the Obama messages.
Of course, you can't blame her for being a little disappointed. She was suppose to be the big change this year. The first woman to run for president and actually have a fighting chance of winning the White House and what happens? That's right, a black man has to come in and be the first black person to run for president and actually have a fighting chance of winning the White House. Can you imagine the turmoil if Michelle Obama had been running instead?
Even more recently, the tactics the Clinton campaign decided to actively use are on the table. She is arguing that Obama is running on hopes and dreams and has no action to back it up. Of course, she seems to forget that Martin Luther King, Jr. also had a dream. What does she expect? For Obama to refuse to give up his seat on the bus until the White House gives him the presidency?
Put the green eyes away Clinton and figure out which accent is actually yours please.
Next up...GLUTTONY

These are great so far. I do have to advise though, to post a little less frequently in general. I see a lot of your blogs pop up in a short amount of time. People tend not to like that.

Yea, I tend to get bitten by the writing bug in infrequent spurts. I can go days or weeks without good ideas, but then sometimes I get inspiration and I'll have one a day. I promise it is not on purpose or to clog the system. The blogs I write are specially chosen after I read up on what I want to write and decide the angle I wish to take or after a personal experience that have moved me to share.
If it gets annoying I hope people chose to write me a private message or post (like you have) to let me know to back off.
Idea: If only there was a way to write a blog and save it to our account before we actually publish it so that we can write, edit, and spend time working on a blog without having to post it immediately. That would make it so I can write as much as possible in my inspirational times, but can publish them at different intervals. Just a thought.
I don't know much about the technical side of things, but on those few occasions when I had multiple ideas at once, I'd write them in Microsoft Word and then just space 'em out. It's probably a good idea to do that anyway so you can spell check and what not. The only problem is that if you copy and paste from word the format will be weird.

I think that this is an absolutely fantastic idea for a blog! I especially enjoyed this one, given I was just talking about it last Thursday after the debate!
"Xeroxing"....come on Hilary. Let's not let our emotions get the best of us.

Envy is just regret repackaged and focused on others. People wish they had done things differently when they see people who did things differently and won. Clinton regrets running her campaign like she meant it. Clinton regrets playing the experienced politician to Obama's fresh young face. When Obama wins, fingers crossed, she will think she envies what he won, but really she just be regretting every decision she has made for the last two years.

I like what you're doing, it seems really interesting and you are very well informed. However, you seem to have a bitter cynicism that is putting a bit of a harsh edge on your post. I understand using that sort of thing as a writing tool, but it might be a little too harsh.
But, I do agree. And, it doesn't bother me if you write a lot, if you have a lot to say this seems like a good place to say it, as long as you continue to actually have something well-thought out to say.
:)
Sarcasm is awesome.... Don't you go nockin' it or else I'll have to mock you to death! lol

Envy can really be a sad thing. Where is the support for a person doing well in something or succeeding. Never really understood how anything good can come out of envy. It will only bring you down.
