Smoking bans are being implimented in cities like Minneapolis. No smoking inside. Not in bars or bowling allies. If you need a fix then you must go outside. At first I opposed this, the governments it setting more rules and regulations I want happy. But it turns out this is good for us as a community. It is good that we arnt subjected to as much seccond hand smoke and that we are being more concious of what we breathe. It is important to have healthy lungs. Smoking causes cancer such as lung cancer and cancer in the mouth. Both can be fatal and painful. Smoking has many undesired effects such as growing toung hair and yellowing of the teeth. People pay money to whiten teeth why pay money to obtain a highly addictive habit and yellow teeth? Seems like a bad idea to me. All of these side effects can effect people who are exposed seccond hand smoke for long periods of time.
I thinkthat the smoking ban will help people elimintate seccond hand smoke and then we will be on our way to a healther AMerica. Smoking kills so many people its the one of the higest killing if not the higest things. It isnt good but the smoking bans are. Whats your opinion? Smoking ban good or bad? - Jennee

i think its a bad idea. people have rights you know. people can drink and get all drunk in public them they get into cars and kill people. no one has to stay home and drink. it really is just wrong the way the government keeps regulating everything. we live in a free country. where did the freedom go?-Jazziy
Here in Oklahoma, I believe that just about every public place you go, you can smoke inside, I also believe that they made it so that you can smoke threw the drive-ins as well. I like the choice, because and so many others have such poor lungs, have such poor body parts, etc. because of people smoking around us. I absolutely hate it when someone is driving in front of me and wants to smoke a cig or black & mild and all I want to do is get some cool air other than the crap coming from the air conditioner in my car.
To JasparEfaw.....if it's rights you are thinking about, then think about both sides, not just one.....if it was okay for a smoker to smoke and not hurt others while doing it, then hey....go for it. Police like to pull over drunks, insurance/money/etc,get it? good.
You have no right to tell other people how to live, it's an abuse of Human rights, not to mention our civil and constitutional rights. Yes, there are a lot of snooty snakes here in Okla. who think they are better than other people but they crap in the same cans the rest of us do. IF a business wants to let a customer smoke, they should be able to do that. It SURE isn't FREE TRADE!!! How dare they cause buisnesses to go out of business just because most of their customers were smokers and were insulted and hurt by such a restriction on their freedoms (and rightfully so), that they stopped going to that business! I NEVER go to a resturant that doesn't let me smoke....they won't get MY MONEY. I wish these American kids would learn the Constitution and learn their place and respect for others, 'cause I sure don't respect anyone who doesn't respect me. Have a marvelous day. Zena
such fire in your speech, I wonder if you would fight with your words just the same, if it was something else that had nothing to do with you.
I like the emotion though, it would be cool if more people had the same fight in em.
I'm a non-smoker, and one who encourages friends and family to quit. Even with that, I'd fight endlessly for smoker's rights. These laws go against the ideology of freedom and America. Unfortunately in my state there is no choice what businesses to give my money to, instead of letting capitalism do it's thing, the state has stepped in and outlawed smoking in restaurants and bars.

It might make for a healthy something, but we shouldn't call it America. These bans go against the idea of freedom. Anyone should be able to allow any legal activity on their property. If you want to avoid second hand smoke, then you should choose to not go somewhere that people will be smoking. A bar is the property of it's owner, but now laws don't let them have smoking. Do you think laws should prevent a person from allowing smoking in their homes?
"higest killing if not the higest things."
Not true. It's certainly unhealthy and causes many deaths, but it's sensationalized. And even if someone dies from smoking...it was their choice.
