What College Degree Will Earn You the Most Money?

Engineering majors are seeing the most cash. Chemical engineering graduates, who now earn $52,539 a year on average, are up 0.3 percent from a year earlier. Computer engineering graduates follow closely behind with $51,297.

Those graduating with a degree in computer science are seeing heartier increases. According to NACE, information sciences and systems grads earn $42,375 a year on average. That's up 10.7 percent from a year earlier. Meanwhile, computer science graduates make $49,036 a year, a gain of 4.1 percent.

Business majors are also doing well. Business administration and economics/finance graduates received a 6.2 percent and a 3 percent boost in average pay to $38,254 and $40,630, respectively. The average starting salary for marketing grads jumped 2 percent to $34,712 and 1 percent to $41,058 for accounting majors.

I just thought this was interesting. I dont need to worry about my future earnings since I'm going to be a physician's assistant and my boyfriend is going to be a network communications manager. Those salaries are around $60,000 and $50,000.

I heard Engineering degrees make the big bucks...I go to NC A&T SU and almost EVERYBODY that goes there is going to be an engineer...it's one of the best programs in the country, from what I heard...but anyways, I'm not great in math, so it's definately not the major for me...

MFAs (that's Master of Fine Arts) were the most-hired in 2005. Grad school here I come!

For me, I'm not going to take classes that would help me make more money. What happened if I spend four years of college and take majors that I really don't want it? It's going to be a waste of my college experience. So, I plan to take classes that I want to take and earning salary comes later.

College is expensive though, I wouldnt want to waste my time taking random classes.

College is definitely expensive but i still don't see how someone could go based solely on the amount of money their future job will pay when it's not a guarantee they'll land the job they want. I think people should go and learn what they love to do rather then what pays better. There's nothing worse then working and not being happy with what you do. I've seen kids drop out get fake degrees and work the job they want do well etc.

I know exactly what you mean. I actually wrote a whole blog about this. haha.

By far Pharmacy is the highest paying degree out of school. I think a entry level Pharmacist makes around 80K. It is a five year degree.

Yeah that is a good one these days.

I'm down for taking classes for a career I want, not for a career that's going to make me money.

I want to be a teacher... because I want to. Not because of the moolah $

GOOD FOR YOU! Besides, we need teachers--a lot of schools are totally short. Especially if you're passionate about teaching. God bless you :)
