plain and simple stupidity

ok so I overheard this conversation in my college library about Andrew Jackson and Native Amercans. This guy was saying how jackson is a hero because he forced Native Americans from their land so that white people would be happy. and trust me that is what he said. Apperently this was generosity toward sthe Natives. I mean give a break. Anyone heard about Trail of Tears. Yea how is that human?Losing ones home and land where they lived for centuries is a horrible thing. trust me I know. And than couple of days ago in my enlish class my teacher was talking about how there are no native tradisions in this country. and unbelivable part of all this was that she said that native americans are the founding fathers. I just wanted to puke. I mean really. I noticed that not many people know the history their own country. But that is mainly the falt of the education they recived. In school there is very little mention of Native Americans. And They are only talked about in the bad context. They are seen as savages But i'm asking how are the real vilans in this story?White people who came here ant took away their land and practicly wied their whole race out. We only learn about how Indians killed Americans and that is all we see in the movies and on the tv. But is forgoten is that they were DEFFENDING themselves. They were deffending their families, their land and their way of life. ANd than some people have the odasity to say that FORCING them into reservations was a kind and generous thing to do? just kill me.Don't forget this is their land and their contry. it bothers me that they are not given any right and the fact that they are mostly poore is blamed on them. When in reality it's US government's foult. And when people, who consider tham Americans, native or whatever, start talking crap about imigrants that are living here. They seem to forget that they are immigrants too nad not native to this country as they like to think they are. The fact that their great-great-great-great grandfathers come here and killed NAtive Americans inorder to steal their land DOES NOT make you a native to this country.

I've never been taught that Native Americans were bad guys.

And how can you prove that you know more than your teacher about history? By her saying America has no Native Traditions, she probably meant America as it is now has no "native traditions" because it's a mix of cultures from all over the place...

I don't even feel like arguing this any further.

In all my years of schooling, and I've been through more than 13, I've never been taught that N.A.s are savages. Even in Pocahontas. Sheesh.

sadly i have been thought that
how can you possibly think that you know what my teacher said when u weren't there. and besides she is not history teacher...if u haven't noticed there is only one side of story in history books.it apears to me that us school teach only what it is convinient not neseserly the whole history or the truth. and it is so intresting to me how in world history class we spent almost whole time talking about US.
but anyways i getting off topic

Sounds like you need to find a new school.

And probably a new English teacher. @-)

"how can you possibly think that you know what my teacher said when u weren't there. and besides she is not history teacher..."

I argue my point based on what you said about what your teacher said.

Besides that, I'm in school to be a teacher right now, and I couldn't imagine going into my history classroom without a general knowledge of English, sciences, geography, psychology... the fact that your teacher is an English teacher gives no justification as to why she's an idiot who obviously doesn't teach good English in the first place.

:-S I'm aghast at it all.

Those guys were completely misinformed, and I'm glad you have a more well-rounded perspective of history.

I do recommend a spell check and editing for grammar, though. It'll make your blog stronger.
