I saw the US vs. John Lennon recently and I had to write about it. I think it was only out on limited release but please look for it when it comes out on video. This is such an important film. Although the movie is primarily about what happened during and immediately following the Vietnam war, it is so relevant in today's world. This documentary tells the story of the the governments efforts at getting rid of John Lennon. They weren't necessarily trying to kill him but they were trying to quiet his protests. John Lennon took a stand against the Vietnam war. He was advocating peace and his demonstrations were peaceful. One of these anti-war demonstrations was a bed in for peace that he did with his wife, Yoko Ono. The government saw him as such a dramatic threat to their interests that Nixon tried to have John deported. This film was really moving and eye opening. It has many parallels to today and what is happening in Iraq. It's also just really enertaining. Check out the trailer at http://www.apple.com/trailers/lions_gate/theusvsjohnlennon/.

There is nothing scarier than a world power that is desperate to silence its opposition, and there is nothing more beautiful than a man who lived his life for love and music.
