Whenever a couple says, "we're pregnant," I have to laugh a little. Although I'm happy for them, it's not true. The woman is pregnant and will eventually do all the work in the end. Not in this case.
It sounds like a hoax, but this man claims to be pregnant. A transgender man who is five months pregnant is carrying his wife's baby. He had been taking hormones so he could grow facial hair and deepen his voice, but his wife couldn't conceive and so he decided to. Strangely enough, he is not the first man to do this.
Is it just me or is this strange? A man being pregnant? How is it possible?
Well, apparently it is. What happens is that the man is injected with female hormones so his body could deal with the pregnancy. Then the pregnancy is induced by planting an embryo and placenta into the abdominal cavity. How does the baby come out? C-section.
I think that although it's possible, it shouldn't be done. I guess I could see how people might find it noble or nice that he's taking this responsibility so that him and his wife can continue a family, but it's very abnormal.
What do you think?

Daddy's Having the Baby?

Yea, I don't know how fond I am about seeing a guy pregnant as I grocery shop. I would be so concerned with health problems that the baby might go through.
But yea... weird...

Thanks!
It's not that I question how the baby will be delivered, it's more of my suspicion of how the man conceived in the first place. As stupid as my question may sound, it's still a wonder to me no matter how obvious the answer might be. So yea, female hormones are injected into him, but where does he get the male half of the process? From himself?
Well I am shocked and don't see how this could even work. If it does, we could all get men to do that for us that would be great! Men would probably say no I'm not doing that you can keep that problem.
I am here to inform and help:

Love comments? I do too!
The key word here is transgender - while he identifies as a male, biologically he is female. He never had a hysterectomy or penis constructed, and he was taking hormones to look and sound male, but once you stop those the only thing making him still male is his self-identification as one. That "the pregnancy is induced by planting an embryo and placenta into the abdominal cavity. How does the baby come out? C-section." simply isn't true. He has all the biological equipment of a female, womb and vagina included; he got pregnant through artificial insemination like many women do.
I was hoping someone would get to that point! It is amazing how quickly misinformation spreads. There is a more accurate account of the situation on here somewhere. I saw it posted a few days ago. I can't remember who posted it...maybe MSmithWisconsin?
It's called RESEARCH people! Do a little before you disseminate misinformation!

Oh! I was curious about how he was once a women and is now taking hormones but had to have the embryo and placenta placed in the abdominal cavity. Thanks for the clarity!

...what? No. That is probably not possible. He has his own uterus and ovaries. It is unclear whether or not he still has a vagina - if he does, he would probably deliver normally.
What do you think is wrong with it? It's abnormal, yeah - so what?
i did the research and from everyone's comments, probably not from the best source. the theory is speculation. in tom's case, he conceived by artifical insemination. but we still don't know how he's going to have the baby. so possibly c-section. but the problem was that his wife was the one who couldn't conceive because of a health issue, which makes me think that he did have surgery.
"Sterilization is not a requirement for sex reassignment, so I decided to have chest reconstruction and testosterone therapy but kept my reproductive rights." This means he did not have his female reproductive organs removed. He has a vagina, but his sex has been legally reassigned. He has had "top" surgery only.
