Secret Service agents allowed thousands of people to enter an Obama rally in Dallas today without a security check, according to the Star Telegram. The rally took place at Reunion Arena, just blocks from Dealey Plaza and the site of JFK's assassination on that pivotal Friday in 1963. Police reportedly removed the metal detectors and ceased performing bag searches after an order came down that all security checks were to be halted.
Officers on the ground were stunned at the flagrant lapse in security, "several Dallas police officers said it worried them that the arena was packed with people who got in without even a cursory inspection". The article mentions the fact that the Secret Service ordered Dallas police to stop screening the 17,000 individuals entering the event because it would "speed up the lines".

Analysis:
As a student of history I'm closely following the events of this year's election and find this event particularly resounding. Something is wrong here. Why on Earth would the Secret Service ORDER Dallas police officers to stop screening people entering a rally for the first politically viable African-American president?
Obama is the current front runner for the Democratic Party, not some backwater politician. He deserves the best and most reliable security detail money can buy. Disney World has better security and it deals with thousands of people per day! Nobody there says, "Ok guys, there are too many little kids coming into Magic Kingdom today so let's stop searching people". Does that make any sense? Hear this citizens of the United States, put your trust in Mickey Mouse!
Regardless, the fact this took place in Dallas is particularly haunting. Read the story and see if it doesn't conjure images of Oswald, RFK, and Martin Luther King, Jr. We all hope that this was just one big mistake and that it won't happen again. Still, maybe Kennedy's spirit helped to protect Obama today, because the Secret Service messed big time. As for conspiracy theory, I'll leave that to your imagination. Hey Mr. Manchurian Candidate, could you dim the lights? Okay, thanks.

If Obama winds up as President, it's not hard for me to imagine that he would end up assasinated. It's a sad fact, but there are a lot of people who would not be okay with a black president. I also imagine that the thought must have crossed his mind.
