A lot of us evangelical christians and our leaders like to say that America, spiritually, is in the dark. Yet, the reasons given for such statement, I've noticed, always have this one pervasive unchanging common denominator; homosexuals.
Since God destroyed Sodom & Gomorrah due to homosexual behaviors among its people thousands of years ago. However, can the homosexuals really be blamed for America being so dark? If we say, "yes!" will we be right? And if our answer is still a resounding, "yes!" then I say we evangelical christians, along with our leaders, are in serious trouble.
Remember, God did not destroy Sodom & Gomorrah because of the homosexuals. No,no,no. He said, "If I find ten righteous I will not destroy for the ten's sake."
In other words, for 10 righteous people I will not destroy hundreds of homosexuals.
Hmmmm! Did you get that?
You see, the problem God had with Sodom & Gomorrha was not mainly homosexuals, though he strictly forbids, "...a man lying with a man as though with a woman".
No! His main problem was with the righteous. The man (Jesus) who said, "You are the light of the world..." was talking to righteous people.
Therefore, if the righteous is the light of the world and we evangelical christians are
the righteous-ness of God, through Jesus, then who is to be blamed for the "dark" in America?
Have a clue?

I sort of agree with you, in the parts where you're open minded, but I have a problem with evangelical christianity supposedly being the one and only religion. I'm happy for you and your faith, but I think that other people with conflicting faiths, or nor faith at all, are contributing to the "darkness" of our country.
Actually, there's no mention of homosexuality in Sodom. Presumably they were killed because they were terribly inhospitable and wanted to RAPE two visitors. I think rape is a bigger sin than homosexuality... although homosexuality isn't a sin, only anal sex between men is (and I have a theory why, if you want to read it: http://www.progressiveu.org/225257-why-gay-sex-sinful-possible-theory). There's also no mention of committed, loving relationships between same-sex couples being "sinful" or forbidden.
