I know that this has been the debate for qutie some time. Profiling I know that this has been a topic of weather or not it still happens, and does it involve race? I'm talking about social profiling, most people do it and don't even know it. Take smoking marijuana for example: When you think of pot smokers most people think of lazy,dumb, long haired, people that rarlely know what is going on in the same room. Which I hate to inform people is not every pot smoker, I do not partake in the act, but some of the smartest people I know smoke pot. Why does the vast majority of people continue to think the first impression of people or actions that they have. Another one is having pre-marital sex, I know that their is risk in having sex before marrage. If a person thinks that they are ready to have sex then I think that ,that is their choice. Even going on birthcontrol, I know many girls who have been branded sluts because they have chosen to go on BC. Playing Video games must mean that you are a geek and have no life outside of gaming which is not true, I play several games and still have plenty of time for my girlfriend,sports,school, & just hanging out with friends. I want people who only go by the first impression of people, to actualy take the time to get to know the people they judge, before they render their final verdict.

it is human nature to put things into categories...and it is human nature to want to be part or something. maybe some of the people that are being stereotyped or profiled don't mind it, and even like it.
im tired of the stereotypes.
we must hang out with the same type of people. I know plenty of brilliant pot smokers and well socialized gamers.
i think that perhaps a lot of it boils down to mass opinion. I mean the media/government/parental units of this country dont want their kids getting "addicted" to pot or gaming and want to be able to mold their children into THEIR idea of what kind of person they should be. So false images are placed on certain "groups' and genres of people become overplayed and misconstrued....abused and such....and that makes for one solid idea of what a "good" kid/person is....the "All American."
