Drinking And Driving

Why do people drink and drive?

Thats something i cant seem to get the answer to. I mean its just straight out dumb drinking and driving, because you not put yourself at risk but the people on the road, that three month old baby in the back seat, the student getting to graduation, the parent getting home after a hard days work...your own family. People have been told about the risk, yet they still do it. What do they get out of it? Death or injury.

My cousin was involved in an accident involving drinking a few years ago, but he wasn't driving, his friend was and they both were drunk. What happened to my cousin? He died at the age of 17...(im going to get a little graphic) They were speeding down the road at about 90 miles/hour, they passed a dip, and it caused the car to flip. This road had many big trees, and in on of them is where the car hit, oh and it didnt just hit and the car stay as a whole, nope. The car wasnt a car anymore, pieces were everywhere, and to my cousin and his friend, that was the end of life for them. My cousin, at the passengers seat was somehow sliced at the waist line and the neck, it was mostlikely the seatbealt but because of the speed, the seatbealt didnt help. My cousin was split into three, his body didnt stay at the same spot, his lower body was down the street, his upper body by the trees and his head somewhere else. His friend flew out the window, and his face, you couldnt even tell it was his face, it was badly scarred against the pavement at such speed, he had to have a closed casket funeral. My cousin was not to be in this world anymore, and it still hurts me. and how do i know all this information? the people at the scene of the accident went out when they heard what happened and saw how the accident ended up.

This is just one accident of the many that happen because of drunk driving. Please dont drink and drive, look at what may happen. If u drink call a friend or family. You wouldn't want to be in an accident like my cousin and his friend were, and i know you wouldnt want someone in your family to have to go through this.

That is horrible and I am sorry that happened to you. You also shouldnt be drinking at the age of 17. It's not worth it.

I'm guessing most people think "it" wouldn't happen to them. Also, some people need to get home but don't want to bother anyone because they have a car. Maybe everyone is is even more drunk than they are. I never really get why people want to drink to the point where they can't think anymore. Thank God I'm too young to drink. I'll stick to my orange juice for now.
