What’s in name? Apparently a lot according to the Food and Drug Administration. A new energy drink claiming to have more caffeine than any other caffeinated drink ever has been forced to change its name due to drug-related references. Because it is advertised as having the same energy-boosting high effect of crack cocaine, it has been pulled off of the shelves of many groceries due to controversy. Honestly, I believe there are more important things to be worrying about other than the name of some energy drink, but we all know the good old government. Unless the stupidity rate has been alarmingly increasing, I don’t believe anybody would think this drink had actual cocaine in it. The makers are changing the name, but what will that do to sales? Will we see this go on trial? Guess we’ll have to wait it out.
"An energy drink called Cocaine has been from pulled from stores nationwide amid concerns about its name, the company that produces it said Monday.
Clegg Ivey, a partner in Redux Beverages LLC of Las Vegas, said the company plans to sell the drink under a new name for now.
The Food and Drug Administration issued a warning letter last month that said Redux was illegally marketing the drink as a street drug alternative and a dietary supplement. May 4 was the deadline for the company to respond."--msnbc.com
