I stumbled across this article on CNN.com today. It describes the relatively unknown world of senior citizen blogging practices. This defies many sterotypes of the activities one does when they reach their illustrious senior years. One 80 year-old was quoted as saying, "My life would be dull without it." Blogging has become a very popular trend for folks of all ages but for those who are older, the digital age has provided an alternative to shuffleboard and bingo. Many of the old bloggers mentioned in this article post on average to 4 or more blogs.
This is exciting news for a website like progressiveU which attempts to provide a voice for problem solvers and students through new media and technolgy avenues. It's great to see this paradigm shift affecting older generations as well as younger ones.

I'm glad that senior citizens are in on blogging as well.
1.) Just like any other "group", they've got unique perspectives that can reinforce and/or challenge our own thoughts.
2.) Some senior citizens sound like teens/kids in the sense that they feel like they're no longer effective in society or that their opinions are discounted and ignored. Blogging gives them an opportunity to feel more connected to society and have their opinions presented to an audience.
Wow, I must admit I have never met a tech-saavy senior. I'm glad they're getting into it though.
For all of you seniors, I joined a site called Seniorocity [ http://www.seniorocity.com/ ] which is an online community for seniors that lets me blog for free, as well as email/talk with other seniors throughout the world.
Rest in peace

I confess before coming here I had 17 blogs.
I recently took many of them down because I am learning more here.
