Glamis Sand Dunes is one of my favorite places to be. If you don't know what it is, it is a huge amount of space filled with large sand dunes that people ride up and down on quads, dirtbikes, rails ect. It doesn't sound to exciting but it is envigorating for me. I love it basically. :]
But, stating how much i love it is not the point of this blog. Naturalist want to shut Glamis down because of a single plant that is going indangered. This is rediculous. One plant, we do not need it to survive and it does not give anything to the us. They have already successfully shut down a lot of the dunes, but plan on expanding.
They charge you about 60 dollars to stay at Glamis for one night. Also, Glamis is four hours away from where i live in the High Desert of Southern California so it costs people a lot of money to get there. The state is making a huge income off of these dunes. I dont see why they would just shut them down.
The surrounding cities like Brawley also thrive from the buisness Glamis gives to them. People survive on the money that their buisness get from people that go to Glamis. There has to be at least 10 different fast food restraunts in Brawley, CA that get most of their buisness from us, the people that love Glamis.

Well, I never go to Glamis, but I know a bunch of people that do. I totally agree that it shouldn't be shut down for anything, even some endangered plant. We didn't save the dinosaurs did we? =P
Please understand that although you may have a good time at this location, the sand dunes would not be shut down if they did not believe this endangered plant to be important. To help you understand why they would be doing such a thing, particular bugs/animals survive in particular niches. Basically, say a certain type of beetle only eats that particular plant, and a lizard's primary food source is that beetle, and there's an animal that depends on primarily on that lizard for food... if you take away that endangered plant, the entire chain begins to die off. So although it might seem for advantageous to you to ride the sand dunes, it may severely affect the ecological area. My opinion is, don't get mad, just find somewhere else to ride dirt bikes. There are tons of places to do so.
Yeah there are tons of places to ride but glamis is one of a kind. Ive been to others, trust me, and there hasnt been one so far thats as amazing as glamis.
