These days teens look for the "easy" way out of schooling. But, in the long run its not going to benefit them. Most either drop out of high school because it is too hard or too stressful, but many go to options for youth which you go to two days a week and get packets to do. I personally don't think you can truly learn from options for youth. Also, many teens aren't going to college after high school, but now a days you need a degree to do anything. They do not realize this and just want to be out of school. I plan on going to a four year university, but even if teens go to a community college after high school they are actually putting in time in an education that they will be able to use later on in life. I am a strong believer in a education. There are so many illiterate people in our country that desperately need an education, and yet we waste a free education everyday that we fall in sleep in class or ditch class. People in third world countries would love to have the option of a free education.

You're my brand new hero. Education is pretty darn important and it's probably the second most important thing you can have next to friends/family. I like to think that I'm going to college (UC Davis in California) and I might get the occasional urge to ditch class, but I never really do. I'm pretty sure that whatever university you go to, you'll be great.
Awuh thanks. :] and i would like to think that I am going to go to San Diego State University. I have a 3.5, and I hope I get in.
Jennie.
Well, it's not exactly free here, but I do know what you mean. I really have been noticing how lazy our generation really is. It is sad to think that all of the people who cheat, never do their homework, fall asleep in class, behave immaturely, and do not respect any authority, are the people that are going to become adults that will perform surgery on your children, teach your children how to learn, or might possibly govern some offical duty such as become our national leader--the President of the United States. To me, when I look and observe others around me, I am quite scared of what our future will be like.
You don't think high schoolers in the fifties cheated on tests or fell asleep in class?
People who never do their homework or don't respect authority are not going to have the grades or interview skills to get into medical school and become surgeons.

My point was that those people will have jobs some where, you will most likely be working with them in the future. They could possibly have a responsibility involving you, your belongings, or your children. But you are right, it is not like there was not any cheaters in the 50s and they only exist today, but I was not born then and do not know about them. But aparrently the statistics show that there has been a drop in the number of men going to college and that women are slightly dominating in the percentages of 51%.
And that's bad because...? Girls tend to get slightly higher GPA's and participate more in extracurricular activities. Because of that, they probably have a easier time getting into colleges or (God forbid) taking up more spots at colleges because they're better qualified.
Oh, the plight of the white male, what shall we do?

Well it is bad for everyone since men are leaders. Leaders should be educated. If our men do not become educated, then they might not be able to become those leaders. If women go to college, become educated, learn how to be leaders. Then women could become the leaders one day. I could see this happening in relationships too if guys do not play their role as the leader as well.
What does that mean, "Men are leaders"? Are you saying men are automatically in charge? How about educated people should be leaders, no matter what gender?

Well I am a believer in the bible which says that men should be the spiritual leaders, wives should submit to their husbands, and the overrall view that men are leaders. I am not saying that women cannot be leaders.
A community that believes that wives should submit to their husbands is crying out for domestic abuse cases.
In fact, communities in which fathers essential "own" their wives and daughters have high rates of incest as well.

submit does not mean you are a robot and they control you, but the men do make the final decisions and act on them after the two discuss the situation.
If men make the final decision anyways, whats the point of discussion?
That sort of systematic, socially acceptable inequality just begs for abuse of power. That equals domestic abuse and incest.

People ditch class, let them. If they're willing to practically donate the money to the university because they aren't going to class, aren't learning and in the end fail a class because of it..let them. Everyone should take care of themselves and do the best that they can, and if they do not put forth the effort as much as you or I think of it as a gain for us because we will look better than them when we graduate and are in "the real world" post college and we'll have an easier time finding a job. :)
And as far as the people that don't go to college...hey...we need osmeone to continue working at McDonald's and bagging my groceries when I buy them. :)
i agree with julia if everyone was to get a really good education and get high paying jobs where would the workers of low paying jobs be? like the occupations on the tv show Dirty Jobs, we need people to do those jobs, those jobs may seem insignificant but if people did not work on those imagine what kind of world would we live in?
