The bodies, once buried, will fertilize the ground allowing strong thick plant-life to reclaim the massive concrete jungles that will go unused. With plenty of land to go around, violence and war will just be silly. Animals will also have room to prosper. Can you even begin to imagine a world like that? Therefore, GO NRA! I'll be one of the 90%. I'd prefer if I didn't, but if that's how it goes, I'd rather have a better place for the next generation. If you agree, are you willing?
Certainly not, I happen to think I'm one of the nicer, more moral people in the world.

They don't always make a good human. Roosevelt was all nice and moral, and then he dropped the bomb. Do you have any other arguments for your own survival?
Why are you hailing promiscuous sex, if one of your reasons for wanting 90% of people dead is to end overcrowding? Also I think the end of unemployment argument is faulty, since there would be 90% less consumers creating jobs.
You've got an interesting concept, but I think you need to make your arguments a lot stronger if you really want to convince people a 90% population cut would solve the worlds problems. Also, if you support such a massive population cut, how do you propose selecting the 10% of people who will continue human life?

I hail promiscuous sex because it spreads things like HIV and other lethal STDs. How do you choose the 10%? You don't. You simply give people the means to put an end to themselves, and if they take the bait, we're better off without them. It means the people who are actually smart enough to keep themselves alive will be breeding, and we all know smart people are less likely to have more than one or two children, so that takes care of population control for a good long time. We may even get some evolution done in there somewhere. Gods know we haven't seen nearly enough of that lately. As for unemployment, true, we would have fewer people to provide for, but who needs money when you can stake out a plot of land, grow some plants, raise some animals, learn to sew, etc. At that point all we really need are teachers, doctors, people who run utilities (water/power/gas/sewer), Law enforcers, Law makers, entertainers, would you like me to go on? I can for quite a while.
I understand that promiscuous sex spreads HIV and other STDs, but it seems like such an inefficient means by which people could off themselves. These things tend to kill slowly, and in the mean time those selfless (or stupid) enough to follow your suggestion could be popping out any number of children to contribute to overpopulation.
While I can't say I really support your suggestion, I have to say your writing shows creativity/originality which is always good. Also you seem to have put a lot of thought into your argument, which is good to see (though slightly disturbing when your argument is that nine out of ten people should be dead). I look forward to reading more of what you write on ProU.

A better way than killing everyone is to simply sterilize 90% of people at birth, totally randomly. The root problem of overcrowding is that too many people want to have babies for no good reason.

My friends and I have actually discussed this, but random sterilization won't do. It still allows Bubba and his sister Vegas to breed. We need to develop some form of reversible sterilization that would be mandatory at birth. Then, if you choose to breed, you have to pass extensive physical and psychological examinations to have it reversed. Then, once you have your new lovely child, back goes the treatment.
and the fnords will eat you whether you can see them or not. you just won't know you've been digested. Most of us don't.
from 'them' telling us about global warming, and the world overcrowding... isn't it logical to think that the world will have to come to an end? prolly.......um.....like. things will be unbarable, at most, 100 years from now? well... i dont care.. i'll prolly be dead by then anwayz. my chillen will come up wit someway to deal wit it.

I think it's up to everyone to figure out how to make the world a better place. Although I don't agree with the orignal authors idea of killing off 90% of the population, we can't always rely on other people to do the thinking for us.

If everyone relied on someone else to do the thinking, we'd be lost. We need people to think for themselves, instead of just being sheep lead around, waiting for a wolf to pounce and destroy them. I'm sure if you tried hard enough, you could figure out something that would help the planet, whether it has to do with global warming or not.
And it doesn't matter if Global Warming exists or not. We're still headed down a very bad path. We're completely destroying our environment, and we have nothing to replenish it with. If we don't start making our industries greener, we're going to pollute it so much that we're going to have to find someplace else to live. And that's not an entirely feasible option right now.
