The Answer Is In Your Ear......Fatboy - The Last Safe Prejudice.

Good Day, fellow bloogies. Today I have a rather serious post. Although i'll have as much as rastapastian comic relief as is fit. All through this blog, I'd like to pose a question to my bloogies: What defines a Prejudice?  So....Now to the blog.

So, we in America are comfortable enough to say that Prejudice is basically beaten down. Though we realise it still exists here and there, we as the American people are comfortable enough to say we aren't too prejudice. Right?

Well, maybe.

Over the last few hundred years the largest social discriminations have mostly been broken to pieces. people have raised respect for  Indians, Asians, Jews, Mormons, Blacks, Greens and Blue #42s all around. Yet Prejudice still exist; It's a strange beast, isn't it?

Many times we find it whispered and slowly gnawing away at us; like a mouse. And other times, it's as loud as your drunk uncle coming home; Like a tiger. And it seems America has done a pretty good job at caging both these animals in. But there is a rare but very crafty Miger (Mouse and tiger hybrid) of prejudice. It hides in the craftiest places and can be as quiet as a mouse, but have the effect of the lord of all Tiger's (level 100 paladin soldier +30 Skeleton kill curse axe) roar. And these are the last surviving species of a dying race of prejudice (In America).

Today I am going to focus on just one, for it is hard to detect and yet we can all be found displaying it.

The last safe discrimination: Obesity.

Now most of you, who are faithful enough to read this far, will say: Tomfoolery ol'e chap! I would never and have never displayed a discrimination of one who is over-weight! You might be surprised. Now that discrimination is seen as the lowest rung on our socially accepted ladder, it has become the elephant in our room. We don't talk about it, maybe because we can't stop ourselves from sounding accusatorial. Maybe thats a word, maybe not, but! How many times have you seen a over-weight woman and avverted your eyes? How many times have you thought: why can't they just loose some weight? How many times have you invited your friends to a sport event and then looked at your chubby one and said:" you probably don't want to go, do you?" Have you ever said: The answer is in your Ear... Fatboy?!?!?!

Well despite from that last one, these are displays of what is so unbeatable about discrimination of the over-weight. It is sneaky and hidden.  They are subconscious social tones, that are so well placed, that we can't stop ourselves from saying them can we?  How many times now do you realise you have insulted someone without meaining. What was a little slight at someone's weight to you was a nuke to their confidence. So, is this a reality of a real discrimination or a acknowledgement of a dying one?

The Answer Is in Your Ear... Fatboy.

It is discrimination. I have felt it, that's why I lost 50 lbs. I felt discrimination towards myself. So I did something about it. What can I say? You have a point. Thankyou for stating the blatant truth that everyone knows, but noone wants to admit to.

This is a very good (albeit slightly ADD) post!

I would like to throw out that the prejudices against fatties are *relatively* new!

As recently as the early 1900's being pale and portly provided proof of possessing plentifully padded pockets! Being wealthy meant that one did not have to work, and could afford whatever foods fit their fancy.

Where as, being excessively fit, and/or sunned meant that one was participating in manual labor which was poor peoples work.
