Why Wasn't Bush Impeached ?

The government tried to impeach Clinton for having sex, but we've given Bush a pass. Bush has done nothing but lie to the American people the entire time he has been in office. He's gotten us into the Iraq war, which has mainly made money for his friends, and has done nothing to help capture Osama Bin Ladin. Remember him? He hasn't done enough for domestic problems. Can anyone say huricane Katrina or children's healthcare? It amazes me how people have sat back and allowed our President to do so little all these years. People have forgotten how to be good citizens. If you are one of those people who has forgotten let me remind you. Demand the President does his job, tells you the trueth, takes care of people when there's a disaster, and doesn't spend money that the government can't aford to spend. If a person in the a private sector fails to do their job they're fired. Well, we need to fire the President since we, American citizens, are his boss!

Oh, I think President Bush was telling the truth at least once, at a press conference 6 months after the 9/11 attacks.

Q: Mr. President, in your speeches now you rarely talk or mention Osama bin Laden. Why is that? Also, can you tell the American people if you have any more information, if you know if he is dead or alive? Final part -- deep in your heart, don't you truly believe that until you find out if he is dead or alive, you won't really eliminate the threat of --

THE PRESIDENT: Deep in my heart I know the man is on the run, if he's alive at all. Who knows if he's hiding in some cave or not; we haven't heard from him in a long time. And the idea of focusing on one person is -- really indicates to me people don't understand the scope of the mission.

Terror is bigger than one person. And he's just -- he's a person who's now been marginalized. His network, his host government has been destroyed. He's the ultimate parasite who found weakness, exploited it, and met his match. He is -- as I mentioned in my speech, I do mention the fact that this is a fellow who is willing to commit youngsters to their death and he, himself, tries to hide -- if, in fact, he's hiding at all.

So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you.

When Bush said he wanted bin Laden "dead or alive", he evidently was being a lot more literal that most of us thought. Maybe it was only the "wanted" part that was a lie...

I think he was honest about wanting to dismantle Social Security, too, and about opposing SCHIP, the State Children's Health Insurance Program. But these are grayer areas, as the facts he cited in defense of his opposition to these programs were often false.

The biggest problem with Bush is that you can't believe a word that comes out of his mouth. I remember before he was reelected people making statements on the news that they had to vote for him. Their arguement was, "you can't change a horse in midstream". I understand what that means, but it seems to take responsibility of thinking away from the person saying it.

Clinton did. He was impeached because they found evidence he lied under oath. However, the American public turned against Congress because impeachment of a President is a very serious act that should not be so lightly used.

Bush didn't do anything unlawful because he bent laws to fit his agendas. He replaced the nation's top lawyers with Republicans, and he had an Attorney General whose only real credential is that he supports Bush. All of this makes it so that Bush becomes essentially unimpeachable.

It's what Clinton could have done.

Do you really think Bush didn't do anything unlawful? Checkout a Frontline episode of PBS called 'Cheyney's Law'.

Bush virtually unlimited power. If the laws gave him this power, how does that make it unlawful?

I must be dense. I didn't realize the laws were like taffy. Just because someone can do something and get away with it does that make it right? Let's srink it down. Think about Enron. That company lied, cheated and stole. They thought it was right but I'm pretty sure their employees didn't!

Enron actually is a really good example.

Ken Lay was found guilty, but because he appealed and then died before his appeal could be heard, the judgment against him was vacated (because that's one of our rules of civil procedure).

The result is that his wife and other heirs inherit all the money he looted from Enron's shareholders, and the people he cheated can't touch it.

I rewatched 'Cheney's Law' on PBS tonight. Bush and Cheney both think the president should have absolute power absolutely and if they feel like it they'll consult other people on things. If you haven't watched this show please do. I know Bush and Cheney had twisted the government, but I didn't realize how they'd done it.

Bush didnt plan on getting into a war. When he got into it, he made choices that he though were good. We really dont want to know anything and everything that the government does but we also need to know because we want to know whether or not we're safe

even if Bush thought it was right to go into Iraq, he lied in order to get what he wanted. why do you think Secretary of State Colin Powell resigned afterwards? Colin Powell knew that the information he brought to the UN was false, or at least poorly compiled. Bush flat-out lied. Plain and simple.

Also the difference between what happened to Clinton was that he lied when a majority Republican Congress held power. Any Senator could ask to assign a special investigator to the facts surrounding the Iraq War, but Congress is worried about Roger Clemmens, and Barry Bonds.

And ok people. I love this site. We are letting it go down. Why does this stuff happen. Because I have my Xbox, my cell phone, my SUV. I am comfortable. I guess it's not that bad. I just had an expensive necessary surgery performed. I don't want change, I might lose my three televisions.
