what I fail to understand is what problem you are upset about in this blog? what is wrong with him? why wouldnt you vote for him? all you say is that you would not- and I cannot agree nor disagree with you if I do not know the merits of the argument
First of all, I don't know how you managed to completely ignore the facetious element of the entry...
Secondly, the man has few merits as a leader. The only reason he's being considered as a GOP candidate is because Republicans know the mayor of NYC will appeal to the hearts and souls of WASPish Americans across the country.
I understood the somewhat joke, but i really wanted to know why because without the why, there is really no reason for anyone to comment becauses its like okay...and?
He did a good job leading NYC especially through 911. I mean I do not understand what your real bone is to pick with him. What is so bad about him?
My problem is the GOP has a good method of manipulating the public. Rudy Giuliani was in the middle of a tragedy. That's the only reason he's being put forward as a candidate. 9/11 is a good way to play on the heartstrings of middle class, Christian, white America. It really is. If he ran for office it would like a slap in the face to people who want a more competent and qualified president.
But how do you justify your attack? Waht specific thing did he do that was wrong that has caused you to dislike him. Forget the GOP. Why is he unqualified in your eys. A specific tactic he used in New York, something he said? Hard evidence.
I don't know his politics entirely- I'm not a new yorker. However, I do know that he has potential for becoming a puppet for the GOP.
Also, what I do know- I don't like.
He voiced his opposition to gay marriage recently, while fundraising for a Christian lobby. Any hate-mongering "Christian" is not A-OK in my book.
The Republicans are going to use that schtick: "He doesn't like queers and he was the NYC mayor during 9/11."
It would just be another example of the party trying to use prejudice and fear to promote an official.
okay so basicaly you are against him because he is against homosexual marriage. in other words you are against any republican candidate because they all have that on their platform and there is nothing else you do not like about him to say you hate him more than the rest? correct?
as far as that goes that is not a good enough reason for me to dislike him because i am a republican and all R candidates have that on their platform. when i vote i am going to vote on specifics- not something all my parties candidates share.
The gay thing is just the most recent.
My problem with Giuliani is that question of "Why should he be president?" should be an issue of "why" not "why not?"
John McCain, even Condi Rice seem to have more qualities pushing in theif favor. To this day, I cannot recall of a single occasion where Mr. Giuliani has made the news for being something other than a "hero." He was simply in the right place at a very misfortunate time.
He doesn't bug me. He's probably a nice guy, I don't care. It's the GOP's strategy that really makes me mad.
