Round One: Bush verses the Congress of the United States

"If the Congress chooses to pass bills that are simply political statements, they will have chosen stalemate," he wrote. "If a different approach is taken, the next two years can be fruitful ones."

From the web address of http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/01/03/news/cong.php

So, another *wonderful* statement from our president....hmm. Funny, this sounds like a "do it my way or the highway." That concerns this political science/biology major. So, is the increase of minimum wage a political statement? What about increasing the funds for research into stem cell research or clean burning fuels? And what is this "different approach" to include and have the Democrats had the chance to try a dead end road? I don't believe the Dems have had congress in eleven years. I might be off, but not by much.

Another thing I find inlightening in this statement is the last part. I wonder, has the past six years been fruitful. Well, I mean besides the war in Iraq...which is another post later...the economy, the "No Child Left Behind" travesty. Oh yeah, that's right. That wasn't fruitful, that was travesty. Funny thing is that travesty must be the vocabulary word for the past six years. Now, do understand, the problems we face now aren't completely Bush fault....well, the war without reason might be. However, the understanding is that a president doesn't run our country by his own ideals. There are *three* branches, last time I checked.

yeah and notice he says "political statements" to belittle the bills' weight and importance to us. i hate this whole right-wing rhetoric that has turned "political" and "statement" into something negative like it's crazy to make a statement.

your Berlin walls will not conquer me.

Increase of minimum wage is not really necessary. There is a very logical reason for this and let me use political nomenclature since you are a political science major. It is called inflation. You should know by now what that is.

Stem cell research goes against what a Republican is. A Republican is a CONSERVATIVE. Take some time and learn what a conservative is before bashing Bush for his loyalty to his party.

As far as the war it was as much of the Democrats fault, hell even the population's fault that we went into the war. If I remember correctly all but one of the congress voted for war. That one person was from an independent group. Not only that but lets look at Bush's perspective. If you were President and nearly 99 percent of the population wants to go to war what would you do? If you had a pea sized brain or bigger you would know to go to war because of the majority rules. Just because the Democrats and the population changed their stance on the war is not Bush's fault.

Now as far as the alternative fuel problem I have not done any political research on it so you might be right on that.

One: I asked if it was a political statement. Is answer is up to the specific person asked.

Two: Once again, a question, not a statement. And yes, quite frankly, stem cell research is a more liberal stance. However, science doesn't really follow political lines, that isn't necessarily something any politician should have an opinion without extensive research. And for the definition of conservative: a conservative is a political minded person who supports more traditional stances on topics that affect people within a constituency.

If you would have listened in high school American History, you would know that there are three elections where the preferences of the majority were not followed. Oh, and just so you know, Bush's first election was one of said elections. And also the polls show that less than half of the population completely supported the war. A third weren’t sure that the war was best. The rest, so you don't have to figure it out, were against the war. Another point to look at: I said it wasn’t completely his fault.

Lastly, the idea of these blogs is to express an opinion. If you find that offensive, then don't insult their intelligence. Argue your opinion on the subject; do not insinuate that you may pass judgment on a person that you have never met. I feel that I am talking to a kindergarten class; which I am sure says something over your maturity level.
