Perverted Justice

The biggest news story to follow on my agenda is the case of the Sex-Tape supposedly "found in the middle of the desert" featuring one of "the most brutal rapes" that Las Vegas police and investigators had ever seen.

If you haven't heard, the video featured an adult male brutally molesting a child (and if you saw the pictures before they withdrew them from the media, she was a baby) while a 12-or-so-year-old girl was forced to watch.

The man allegedly seen in the video is Chester Arthur Stiles, a man previously accused of groping a six year old baby in 2003 (thank you, MSNBC). They say this charge is unrelated, but how can it be?! No, the attacks are not connected in any way other than the man who committed them. But should we take allegations of a thirty-something year old man GROPING a CHILD more seriously?

The biggest part of that case was the fact that he fled to avoid persecution of the case, and that fact alone is apparently more important than what he was being accused of.

He's been caught multiple times with illegal weapons (he's a fugitive, fugitives don't get concealed weapons permits) and they have proof from multiple sources that he was in Las Vegas, where the investigation is taking place, just two weeks ago!

WHAT?! Why wasn't he nabbed sooner?! Why wasn't anyone keeping a watchful eye on him? Even if he's currently "free" from the law, he was accused of groping a baby! Why aren't we watching these perverts?!

I suppose losing it is about the only thing I can do to express how disguisted I am. I posted yesterday about how depressing this story was, but it is becoming an outrage.

As for the baby, where was mom?

At work, apparently. She believes this all happened while she was at work, and there was no indication of abuse.

Now, I don't want to condemn mom right away, because all I know is the little tiny excerpt MSNBC is giving me. But according to police, this is the most brutal rape they've ever encountered! Three year olds are still being potty trained or bathed by mommy; a mommy is bound to see her baby girl naked at some point in the day: weren't there bruises? Scars? Bleeding? She was three, not thirteen. Bruises on a baby's thighs are pretty much never signs of playground accidents.

And who was mom leaving baby with during the day who would do such a thing? The man doesn't look like a winner to begin with, let alone all of the charges he's faced and the history of violence in his past (and apparently present).

I wanted to give facts about the case, say how we can go about changing things like this, what people are doing and how we can help... but this entry has become more of a rant.

I am outraged that this happened.

Happy ending? Well, so far they found the little girl, who is now SEVEN, "safe" at home. But what babysitters is mom leaving her with now? How long is mom leaving her with people who could potentially harm her? This incident probably already screwed the poor girl up for life; who is watching her now?

I'm upset that this a-hole is walking the streets that kids play on. I'm upset that he wasn't watched more closely even after being accused of groping a child. I'm not sure there is a happy ending to this story, but I'm jaded by how angry I am.

If you're like the baby in the tape, speak up, please. If not for you, then for all the people who may fall victim to the same predator as you.

The full story with updates can be found here. (Thanks again, MSNBC)

(sorry if there are a lot of grammar errors and typos, I re-read and edited the post but I'm afraid in my frustration I may have missed some.)

And it happened in my city! I can't beleive what the world is coming to. It's just horrible. A 3 year old baby!?!?!? Geez. My son is only a year younger than her and it kills me to think that someone would want to do something like that. i just learned the other day that there is a pedifile in my neighborhood and I am even scared to go out unless I am in my car with the doors locked.

But if you're interested, there are tons of sites where you can put in your zip code or address and it'll tell you all the crimes committed in your neighborhood and all the registered sex offenders living close to you.

It's scary, but informative.

The most informative site I've found is www.familywatchdog.us

Scary, huh?
