I seem to be unable to copy and paste text from other people's comments and posts. This ability can be useful for the purpose of quoting them. I'm curious to see if anyone else has this problem, and why people think it exists.
It's possible the creators of the site were afraid of people plagiarizing other people's text, but I'm not sure how likely this really is, or how effective the "safeguard" would be in that case, since looking at the source code of the web page gives one a slightly less convenient way of copying the text anyway.

Yeah, at least blogs seem off limits to copy/pasting. I noticed that when I first started to try to pick apart people's arguments (it's so much easier to go paragraph by paragraph). I suppose we all have to turn into copywriters (not to be confused with copyrighters).

I used to have that problem and it annoyed the shit out of me because I'd rather copy and paste what someone said than have to type it out.
What browser are you using? I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but maybe try switching it to firefox or something other than IE, that's what I had problems with and now I can copy and paste just fine displaying the site like firefox.
Firefox pwns IE.
Incidentally, what's the deal with this new verb "to pwn"? It's not even pronounceable.
It comes from the common typo of the word own. Since 'p' is so close to the 'o' and '0' keys, it was an easy mistake to make, and eventually became protocol.

I though it was personally owned, like someone totaly made you look like you were their biznitch
I use Crazy Browser. It runs on the same software as IE, but has far fewer pop-ups and is alot more secure. Plus, it has tabs!!
--Mike
What do you mean by "tabs"?
I don't get popups with IE except on dictionary.com.
Meaning you don't have to open multiple browser windows in order to surf multiple websites at the same time.
I used to get pop-ups all the time, especially when I went onto ultimate-guitar.com or mxtabs.net or various lyrics sites. Also, use a real dictionary. m-w.com not the user-submitted stuff from dictionary.com

Firefox pwns IE.
I'm sure that has to do with it. I am using IE. I think I'll just deal with it for now, but I don't really understand what format for the site or its code would result in text that is technically text but can't be selected in some browsers.
Don't just deal with it, download firefox and help us rid the world of this disgusting monopoly held over the 'net by IE!!!!!
