Today has been and extremely disappointing day. Only four new emails in my two accounts, only 8 new facebook wall posts, none of my friends are on AIM, and I only got one comment on my blog today...
Who hasn't checked their profile page three or four times a day, or plastered their friend's message boards simply with the hopes that those friends will respond?
We live in a world where we no longer have to be popular in real life, as long as we have a googleplex of internet friends.
A friend of mine was talking about someone who sent her a friend request, and we weren't exactly sure who they were...turns out they graduated with us...and of the 243 kids from my 409 student graduation class...she has friended 229 of them.
Why? Is it to seek out that feel of popularity that was untainable in high school? Or does she really believe that each one of those people were her friend?
This doesn't make much sense, its just my little rant on how addicted people are to their computer friends.
I also am quite perturbed by those who seem to have two lives, an internet one and a real life...
You all know a few of those people, the ones who have on conversations with someone online, but will not mention that exact convo in real life...or even more obnoxious the ones who have friends that they really like to hang out with on the internet but just don't make time for in real life..weirdos
end of incoherent rambling

I too am ususally disappointed with the lack of messages or comments on my myspace page. But, think about it this way, the less time you spend on the internet, the more time you spend making good friends that will last. Or maybe even doing some homework. :).....nah.

Actually, Myspace and Facebook have helped me keep my friends from high school. I would have lost many connections. Now I keep up on their lives and talk informally, but often. It's great. I've kept track of birthday and events. I've been able to know about tough things in their lives (second-hand) and be there for them. I'm really grateful for social networking! It's helped me maintain friendships that might of diminished if we only depended on phone calls.
