Islam and Terrorism; the Cure and the Sickness

When the word "Muslim" or the "Islam" is mentioned, one of the first pictures that pops up in the minds of some people, and I am not saying all people although that maybe true in some places, is terrorist and terrorism. In all actuality, this is the most erroneous and misconstrued thought ever! Islam today is being beaten to a pulp and smashed against a wall for no apparent reason except the ignorance of the people doing this fallacious crime. Tell me, why do so many people pick on Muslims and make fun of their methods of life? Why are so many Muslims targeted to so much racial discrimination? Is it fear? Is it ignorance? Is it the wrong picture of Islam which has been painted so sharp in the minds of people by the media? Look, the Muslims who follow the true path, and I say this because like all other religions, Islam too has certain deviant sects which focus on killing of innocent civilians and such brutal crimes, will never be bad. Ask a true Muslim about his or her religion. One who knows and isn't ignorant of his or her own religion. Don't judge a person because he has a beard or because he wears a certain clothing or prays a certain way at a certain time. This is America, the land to practice one's religion freely and openly without the fear of death or torture. What did the true Muslims ever do to you? It is clear in Islam that the killing of innocent people, especially women and children, is strictly forbidden. Women aren't treated bad in Islam, Muslims don't have the goal to kill everyone, bombs aren't the Muslims uniform! Those are all just stupid misconceptions and it would do everyone a great justice if one were to find out about those from a scholar following the true Islam. Not from some random person who reads the newspaper and considers himself to be a knowledgeable person and certainly not from the media. I assure you, Islam is a peaceful religion. Please don't pick on it and cause fear in the hearts of Muslims to practice their own religion. I had friends who were held up because they were Muslim. I had a teacher who almost got run over because he was a Muslim. Why? Automatically in the minds of people comes the idea that "this guys going to blow me up or kill me". Those Muslims pay their taxes, they serve humanity, the are good people who deserve respect. They actually deserve more respect because of their contributions to America. I have been a Muslim my whole life and I assure you I have never, never seen a person with a bomb or even with the ill intention to kill innocent people. All I have seen is beauty upon beauty; light upon light. Please research about this religion from the proper sources and don't be mislead by what the media offers and what the people who kill others unjustly offer. Actually, you can email me any questions or comments or desires you have and I will try to get them answered by a scholar. My email is ibnabuashher@yahoo.com.

Im Christian and Conservative and one of the challenges i face is dealing with some of my peer that think in the way you describe. Because one of my good friends is Muslim and i can only imagine how much crap she gets. Also at airports its got to suck. But there are always going to be people who don't understand others cultures

PARAGRAPHS! This looks interesting but I'm not reading a block of text.

I did however note that you said that women aren't treated bad in Islam. Thing is, look at every single Islamic country. Terrible human rights abuse. And that's generally what people know of Muslims.

Unfortunately, most of that is political, brought on by faulty interpretations of the Qur'an. The Muslim countries are pretty much the exact opposite of America when it comes to separation of Church and State. To Muslims, there is no separation, and the idea of it seems absurd. Ideally, this would lead to the more peaceful Muslim nations that things used to be in the Dark Ages. However, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely, and you end up with the corrupted governments, using Islam as the scapegoat, we are dealing with today.

While there are some passages that appear to condone mistreatment of women, the Qur'an explicitly states that women are equal to men and are in fact allowed by the book to own land, vote, and even hold official positions, among other things.
