Someone at our school wrote a bomb threat in a boy's bathroom stall, announcing a timed bombing on "March 8th, 2006, 12:37 PM". That was today.
Nothing happened, of course. There seems to be alot of bomb threats going around lately in my area, but the first time at my high school. The administration was all up in arms on sweeping the school twice, once in the morning and once before the alleged time, and evacuating students, etc. I actually didn't go to school today because I was sick (I think food poisoning, maybe), but I was thinking: logically, if I were actually a bomber and intended to cause mass death and harm, wouldn't I install a bomb outside of the school, where all the students were evacuated and clumped into tight-knit bunches, to avoid being detected by the sweepers? The school board's response just seemed rather inadequate to me, but then again, what can a school do? Shutting down school for the day would incentivize slackers like me to make such threats in order to skip school, not doing anything looks irresponsible in the eyes of concerned parents and students... The administration must walk a fine line between keeping its cool and operating within certain limits and not overreacting and looking just plain stupid.
But what's the psychology behind giving people warning before bombing?

Because most likely, they're not going to ACTUALLY bomb the school. It's all about the "thrill" I suppose. Plus, some bombers may want something (like money, etc.) in return for not bombing the school.
, those are just my ideas on it, anyway. It's funny that I saw your post, I just made one about bomb threats a little while ago.
