Not too much happening in the news today, besides the usual war crap and Congress scandals.

Here's what I dug up for the day....

*Some Ohio teachers are getting a total of $20 million from the federal government as part of a federal incentive program. Ohio's grant will be distributed in four of the state's most academically challenged school districts -- where teachers already have higher-than-average salaries. The program is aimed at rewarding teachers who improve student performance in some of the nation's toughest schools. The Bush administration encourages schools to pay high-performing teachers and principals more than others. The 16 grants total $42 million and cover many states.

It's nice to know our tax dollars aren't being wasted... ha!

And here's a disturbing story out of Los Angeles....

*After several ambulances were spotted over the weekend leaving patients on the streets of Skid Row in Los Angeles, authorities have launched a criminal investigation focused on the Los Angeles Metropolitan Medical Center. Police videotaped and photographed five alleged dumping cases Sunday in which the patients later told authorities they hadn't wanted to be taken downtown. Authorities are looking into whether the the hospital violated any laws regarding the treatment of patients Police have long suspected that law enforcement agencies from outside the city and other institutions are using Skid Row as a dumping ground for homeless people.

It's nice to know that cities in the United States give homeless people proper treament... ha!

Props to the Associated Press for those.
