This is also another big topic going around my house theft. It eludes me why some people do it sometimes however I look back to the basics of people in those times. We are a greedy people that want everything, things we do not need just because we are simply vain. I refuse to accept that as an excuse though why should people steal when they have everything they should possibly need.
Just recently, we discovered over $700 in change missing and we have had smaller sums than that disappearing for a while now mostly because of my sister and the types of friends, she brings around the house, but stealing from your own family is just wrong.
There are obsessions I understand sometimes in which a person steals mostly for the rush of it, other times the person can be addicted to something anything that they do not have the resources to keep supplying for themselves any other way, and the all too common, “I am poor so I need to steal” excuse.
My feeling if your not stealing food because you honestly need it then I might shed some pity on you. I personally have never stolen anything because I never needed to so that makes me feel slightly better on the subject.
I personally feel that America’s people nearly every one of them has stolen at least once in their lives whether it is something small or something heavier like a car theft. It is sickening because half of the time people do not need what they are stealing or forget the ever so obvious get a job and pay for it.
I feel I have the solution for it. Once people are caught stealing no matter how small the theft if they should be made to go through a week of a mock stimulation; made to live the life of a true African for a week see the real poverty and find out exactly what the true necessities are not the makeup they were trying to steal but food, water, and shelter. I guarantee it would stick in their minds more than community service the next time they went to grab something from a shelf. Also, it would make them much more conservative and just an all around better person if they realized how frivolous we as Americans are thinking we need so much more than we really do. What is your opinion on this theory and do you have any of your own?
