Religion and spirituality have always been large interests of mine. I've always felt something... divine around me and in my life. I've never belonged to any one particular religion although I've read about many and have (almost) always looked upon different sorts of religions with a great deal of curiosity and respect. There was a time in my life when I was very anti-Christian everything, and I expressed it, but I have found myself becoming more accepting towards it and I no longer feel a complete hatred for it. I can see the validity and beauty in it as much as I can Hinduism, for example. That doesn't mean I like Christian music or anything, I still dislike that strongly, but I can go to church with my boyfriend without feeling nervous and fidgety - I've found that I can actually enjoy myself at times. I don't see this as somehow being a "conversion" or changing who I am. Rather, I see this as proof that I've grown as a person and have actually become more the open-minded person that I had always claimed to be for so long.
Anyway, this is all sort of my way of getting around to my view on how spirituality should be an open and organic process - something which should be allowed to be discovered, explored and nurtured on a personal basis. Even inside an organized religion I still firmly believe that there's room for a person to search and to question certain aspects of their faith. This is only healthy and natural and should be encouraged. Questioning does not necessarily mean that an individual is in doubt of their faith, they could just be searching to become stronger in it and to really feel like they're a part of their religious beliefs as opposed to just wearing the nametag. Of course, doubt isn't necessarily a bad thing either - God could just be calling them in a different direction. It's all in how you look at it.
Personally, I believe that no matter what religion you belong to, you're all worshipping the same God. Sure, the semantics and/or some of the specifics may be different, but when you get right down to it they aren't all that different. Religion shouldn't be something which brings people down but lifts them up and allows room for the individual within the group. We're all human beings living on the same planet so I think it's just about time we all learned to share our toys and just get along
