Don't you just love the incoming of facism? Regulated economy, controlled homes, you know...the works. First, just before Christmas a bill in Congress was signed into law that prohibited the sale of incandescent light bulbs by 2012. That's regulating our economy! They can't do that! Someone needs to take this to the Supreme Court. Australia has already banned incandescent lights and the UK is on the same plan we are. I realize the initial thought was to combat 'global warming,' however if Congress had actually done their research, they would have found that switching to flourescent lights would improve our 'carbon emissions' by .003% I kid you not, that is it. Are you aware that one day of production for a Chinese factory is equivalent to 300 Million SUVs being driven all day, every day for a year. I think there are bigger issues than light bulbs. (And I won't even mention the fact that flourescent bulbs contain mercury and cause seizures, dry eyes, skin cancer, migranes, and increased pain for lupus patients.) But that's not the point! The point IS that the government is regulating our economy, and it's not their place. If we want to buy flourescent lights and 'save the world' than fine, and if we want to 'kill us all' with incandescent, great! We'll do that. But it's not the government's place to decide what we can buy.

And now there's crazy California (which I just may move to next fall) which is going to control the thermostats in all of the new buildings. No, I'm not kidding. They can literally control the temperature of the new buildings. The new buildings will be equipped with 'smart thermostats' that enable the utility porviders and/or government to control the temperatures. Again, do we not have the right to set our thermostats based on individual need? Yes, its may be wasteful to have it set on 88, but it's our money and it's our choice! It's not the government's place to decide when we do something, what we do, or how we do it.

There are so many more important things that can be going on, and what do the state and national legislators do? they agree on bipartisan light-bulb legislation! I find that absolutely ridiculous. I find it unbelievable.

Thanks for the laugh... oh congress.

Article One of the Constitution gives Congress the power to "regulate commerce" among the states and with foreign nations. The state legislatures have the same power within their particular states.

So, no, taking this to the Supreme Court won't cut it.
