I came to realize that there are three America and how the occupation in Iraq and future war affect them. The first America is the rich elite who made profit off of war, the second is the people who are not affected by war but don't profit financially from it, and the third America (a population that people rarely seen or had choose to ignore) is the people who go and die in foreign country for the elite while receiving no financial benefit from the war.
Lets talk about the first America that makes money off of war. They are a small percentage of America yet they rake in the highest income through war profiteering. I don't mean people like bill gates or Andrew carnage. The people I am talking about is war profiteer like Dick Cheney (former chairman? of Halliburton), Eric Prince (current and founder of blackwater America), and all the ceo and shareholder of Halliburton, blackwater, general electric, oil companies, and those at the very top of corporation that is making a killing in Iraq and through war. These people had no personal stake in the game because they aren’t the one that will be serving in the war nor will their children or anyone that they love and hold dear. The only thing that they had to worry about is how much money they will make through the war and how their profit will increase the longer the war continue.
Now I am not suggesting that they are not allow to had an opinion about the military, foreign policy, or domestic policy, just because they never serve in the military nor will their children or any immediate family, I merely suggesting that because they and their children had no experience of war whatsoever it would be very difficult for them to comp rend the suffering that the American soldier and their family will go through.
I understand that they may even express remorse for the American soldier and show sympathy for those that had loss their live just like a stranger show sympathy for a child's dead pet. If I had to guess, I would think that many of the ceo/shareholder of Halliburton, blackwater, oil companies, and all the defense industries that are making a profit through war are for "spreading freedom and democracy" through military means instead of diplomatic and peaceful forces. Maybe some of them even oppose the war but that is the only way to make a living for them and their family.
The second group of America is the one that are rich enough not to serve in the military as a mean of escaping poverty but don't seem too careless nor will they ever understand war. Some of these people may be oppose to war or even support the first group of American military intervention instead of peace and diplomatic way.
Just as the white, suburban middle class family who was aware of Jim Crow and segregation in the south choose to ignore the injustice done to the minority even if they believe that segregation and Jim Crow is wrong and a gross violation of the constitution. The white middle class who lived in the suburb only began to care about civil rights when they saw their own children marching with the minorities and beating up by the police that they understood the significance of it.
These are the people are the one that are going to collage and university but they will never personally profit from the invasion of sovereign nation or continues war. They are the one that the elite need to manipulate in order to continue they’re profiteering. Those that do believe in the elite propaganda are not necessarily stupid (after all, they were smart enough to avoid being cannon fodder for the elite economic enrichment) but they are stupid enough to believe in the lies. Since it does not affect them directly, these people would find it very difficult to understand the hardship of that the American soldier and his family goes through. Maybe they had a neighbor down the street or some distant third cousin that are fighting but it really doesn't affect them directly or at a point where they would express backlash against the elite for profiteering of the war.
The third group of American that I will be talk about is the working poor and those that could barely afford to make enough money for themselves or their family. They escape poverty by serving in the military but they found out the promise aren’t kept. The government had outsourced some of their job in the military to corporation like Halliburton so they are reduce to recruiting or being cannon fodder. The education that they are suppose to receive through the GI bill had been reduce to a mere scrape of paper because several of the benefit had been cut due to lack of funding and many of the money that are suppose to help them been pocketed into the ceo/shareholder of the corporation that does business through the military.
These people are the one that will be suffering all the foreign and domestic policy of the elite. These people ask nothing in return but a good and moral judgment from their commander in chief but he had betrayed them and for his ear is full of the war profiteers.
For me, I probably fall somewhere between the second and third group of American. It is a sad day today that those in the second group of America are willing to scarifies American soldiers in wars while cutting their benefit through the GI bill in order to maximize the profit for the elite. I wish that we can all live in a world where no one had to think about "am I going to die in a foreign country" but instead everyone would think, "how much money will I make off the death of American soldiers." Dreams and hope are impossible nor are they realistic but miracle had happen before, and one day we all will be rich enough to think about how much money we all will be making off the death of American soldiers.
