Everyone loves a good Bush-ism from our bumbling buddy in the White House, so I'll open with one now:
"See, in my line of work, you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda." (New York, May 2005)
And he's right, of course. In his line of work - as well as in mainstream media, owned by huge corporate conglomerates and the primary source of information for most citizens of this country - repetion nets results: a population blindsided by exactly what they are supposed to hear. It is so easy to be complacent and lazy in this country. It is so easy to open your mouth and have the powers that be spoon-feed you rhetoric, scaring you just enough with thoughts of terrorists threatening your way of life to keep you from searching for the truth behind the curtain. We are by and large a nation hell-bent on figuring out the path of least resistance and greatest comfort. The youth of our country head for the mall or the couch to play video games or use the vast network of available resources on the internet to keep abreast of the latest Britney Spears scandal, and can therefore easily ignore that our national sovereignty and Constitutionally granted rights as citizens are rapidly being depleted and may cease to exist within our lifetime.
It is also so easy to inform ourselves, though, and we need not fall prey to propaganda 'catapulted' towards us by those that would seek to control our lives. There are many questions that can be raised right now: Who is Ron Paul, and why has the media blatantly and repeatedly excluded him from coverage during the state primary elections? How widespread is voter fraud on a local, a state, a national level, and is it possible that elections results are in fact decided long before any popular vote takes place? Who and what is the Bilderberg Group, and why is there such extreme secrecy surrounding its membership, meeting agendas, worldwide influence, and ultimate aims? Have the millions of Clinton and Obama supporters with genuinely good-hearted social intentions and liberal leanings ever examined the Senate voting records and bills supported by these Democrats, or considered that perhaps the Democratic/Republican divide is an illusion and the candidates all share the same power-hungry agenda, puppeted by a host of behind-the-scenes politicos, financiers, lobbyists, media kingpins, and powerful dynastic families? What comprises the "New World Order" that Bush and other high-ups openly laud and what does its implementation mean for our country, our rights, our world?
These are all issues easily "googled", "wikipediaed", and otherwise researched right now from the comfort of your very own computer. As this is an introductory post, I will not suggest any answers to these questions right now, but rather make the suggestion that it is to the benefit of every concerned citizen of this country to become informed as to the true intentions of our government and, by extention, the media that alternately skews public opinion in the interest of propagating certain deliberately crafted views and systematically refuses coverage of alternate opinions, contrary factual analysis, and revolutionary content.
Over the course of the next few months, I will be posting daily with new content focusing on different aspects of the threats facing our rights and freedoms on a national and international level. I will offer a perspective as a young person in this country on personal issues of concern, such as the possibility and implications of a recession, the devaluation of the American dollar, public education, the eradication of the middle class, sustainable agriculture and development, human rights violations around the world, Chicago politics, and my own family's struggle to merely stay afloat in the dismal wake of our country's economic collapse.
I will also provide relevant links and breaking news stories from independent news sources in the hope that any who come by my blog to read my opinions might take a few minutes - or hours! - to explore the issues I address more fully, with the confidence to know that this is far beyond 'conspiracy theories' or bullsh*t rhetoric. There are real threats facing our civil liberties, many of which have already been successfully implemented in the guise of patriotism and external threats to national security (Patriot Act wiretapping, anyone?). Unless we stand together to resist these blatant violations to our Constitutional Rights, we are co-conspirators in our own oppression and eventual enslavement at the hands of a small group of global elite. We are not pawns in their game. I want to see the vast network of artists, students, activists, bloggers, and intelligent youth of this country affect real change. The first step is knowledge. Let's arm ourselves together with every tool and source at our disposal and show these ridiculous bigwigs that we will not tolerate their corruption and self-serving power plays any longer. It is not yet too late for our country. It is not yet too late for our world.
My name is Jessica. I'm 24 and a citizen of the United States. I'm currently living in Chicago, where I work with young children and am applying for a Master's program in elementary and special education (completed my BA in Philosophy with a concentration in Ethics in 2005). A series of events in my life led me to wake up to the larger threats facing our country and the world, and I have placed many personal pursuits on hold in the quest to educate myself and others on topics that are largely ignored and yet have far-reaching - and, in many cases, terrifying - consequences for us all. My boyfriend Michael and I are in the beginning stages of forming a coalition of artists dedicated to raising awareness of issues concerning censorship, freedom, national policy, and the formation of the frightening "New World Order" and its implications. You can check out our myspace page for some good initial links to some of the topics that I've touched upon: myspace.com/artistsforawareness911. I would especially urge you to watch the excellent Alex Jones film "Endgame", which is linked on our site. It will make you sad and angry with its revelations, and it will certainly inspire you to at least learn more about what our government's intentions are. It's laughable at this point to assume that our government is at all concerned with caring for and "protecting" us. We hope to eventually launch a 'real' website in the future, but in the meantime, we would love to add you as our friend and keep you informed on the many news articles we come across (our myspace blog is continuously updated with information). I am also interested in networking with any Chicagoans currently involved with, or wanting to get involved with, activist groups dealing with the above mentioned issues.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post. If I have struck a chord with you, please bookmark my blog and come back often as I will try to update at least once a day with new article links, opinions, and debate on a host of relevant issues. I also welcome comments and suggestions and will reply to any and all that I receive.
Until next time,
Your fellow American,
Jessica
