Why High School Sports State Competitions Should Be Like College

I'm not going to claim to be an expert on college or high school sports. I do play high school baseball and watch some of the NCAA March Madness on TV. But I do have an opinion on this subject. From what I know, colleges are split into different divisions and what not, and the best compete in the March Madness. So the smaller colleges like Gonzaga University would still go against the big schools like Washington State University. Now, even though there are less people at Gonzaga, that doesn't mean there are worse athletes there, right? Then why is it in some (if not all) states for sports not do the same for their state championships?

For those of you who live in Washington State or follow high school baseball, Auburn High School is ranked #22 in the nation for baseball. We (the Auburn School District) moved from 4A down to 3A, so Auburn won't be facing the big schools like Jackson or Kentlake like they did in previous years. I believe that Auburn should be placed in with the best teams in the state, rather than just their division. I don't believe that just because your school is smaller that you should play only against your size of schools.

I don't know though, I doubt this will change. I hope it does. I think it would raise the bar a little in high school sports and provide more of an equal competition rather than having just Auburn dominate the 3A league by pounding the smaller and newer schools (like mine).
