My name is Claire, I am from IL. I am a college student who is majoring in Psychology with a minor in conflict resolution and perhaps political science. I am a hard core liberal, pro-choice and am an Obama supporter. I strongly believe in women's rights and while I do commend Hilary Clinton for running for President, I believe Obama will do a better job of cleaning up Bush's mess. I apologize ahead of time for my spelling, I am horrible at it! I will try to post a couple blogs a week on current happenings in the world and probably a rant or two about issues facing America today. I believe that society today focuses too much on Hollywood and what is happening in Brittney Spears' daily life and not enough on the world itself. Look around you, the world is falling apart. We have a president we elected not once, but twice, who has dug us into a really big hole. We have young men and women overseas fighting a pointless war with which country now? I support the troops, don't get me wrong, my boyfriends brother is over there, I do not support a pointless war we started based on a theory. Women's health care is begin dramatically overlooked, with Planned Parenthoods all across the country being protested, not only that, but workers and even the construction workers' (who built it) homes are being stalked, egged, harassed by these "pro-life" people. But Americans would rather read about what the latest juicy piece of gossip about who's pregnant and who slept with who in Hollywood than about Darfur and the genocide there. The environment is being destroyed without a second thought by millions of American's daily and now countries like China are gaining power which is good for them but now that their economy is growing and will dramatically impact the environment in a matter of years. Think about how many people live in China, now imagine them all with cars. Cars that use gas and other natural resources that we can not get back. And gas prices are through the roof now, imagine in 5 oyears! Huge corporations own car companies and have the technology and knowledge of how to build eco-friendly cars, ones that don't run on gas but run on renewable resources. Why aren't these cars in every household in America? Because of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$! It's a sick world we live in and our generation can do something about it! We have the power to create change! Easiest way is awareness. We need to get information out to everyone and we all need to think about how we want our children to grow up. It's just like sex education in schools. People wonder why so many teens get pregnant and are having unprotected sex. Why there are so many STDs out there today, why abortions are at an all time high. It's because children are growing up in an absence only education system where they don't know how to react to lots of situations. They deny pregnancy or infections until it's too late and they suffer enormously because of it! Imagine howm uch the world will change if they only knew all the facts! Knew how to get birth control for free at any age. The world needs change and we need to be the change we wish to see in the world.

Welcome to ProU. It's great to see you and many other new bloggers joining the site.
I would like to suggest that you break your writing down into short paragraphs, so it is easier to read. Many people find it overwhelming to read long blocks of text and/or simply can't keep track of where they're at without paragraph breaks, so you will get more reads in the long run if you use paragraphs.
Good luck, and more importantly have fun bloging!
