So while debating this year I have come across a pretty sweet argument by a French man named Alain Badiou. Badiou says that instead of putting all of our hopes and dreams into the government, we should go out and do it ourselves. Working through the government is what he calls the politics of exteriority. Going out and doing it yourself would be the politics of interiority. Badiou says that the only way to have a Truth Event is to realize that you have to do everything possible to get something done. For example if I want the Immigration Reform passed, I could go to the government and hope that they pass it and if they do that's cool and I don't do anything else. If they don't I just sit back and say that I tried. No, what we need to do is actually do something about it. Form a group and go out to actually help get Immigration Reform passed. And it works too. The whole Civil Rights Movement was a Truth Event. Instead of working through the government to get what they needed to pass, they marched in the streets for their cause. And if your sitting there thinking that, "Oh I'm only one person, what can I do?" Think about Rosa Parks. She was only one person and she influenced many people. Just have full faith in what ever your cause is and go out and do it. It's like when you're watching TV and you see something really sad on TV. You watch and think, "Oh that's sad." And go back to eating your dinner. You've done nothing. You've had no Truth Event.
There are many events in people's lives. These are little events that we experience and participate in everyday. They aren't major in our lives. A full out Truth Event is like a full blown cause that we never stop working for. It's always good to go out and do something so quit being lazy, get off your butt and go work for your Truth Event!

I agree. If we see something that needs to be done and it's not getting done, do something about it. If you can do something, do it, don't just wait for others.
i agree! people forget how much they can do. this is refreshing--it is so easy to fall into the rut of complaining, doing little more than smuthering passion for change. why not go and make the difference we want to see?
thanks! this is inspiring!
