There was a democratic debate that was translated into spanish. This is the first time we have ever donr such a thing. The rules were ALL participants would speak in English reguardless so as not to create an "unfair" advantage. There were translators provided and it was publicaly broadcastd on television.
Is this fair? I don't think so - no other countrie caters to immigrants. This is america and our official englage is english. This is a little out ragous. Why arn't immigtants expected to lean english? It just seems like a nessiary skill for living in a new place - learn the language.
I mean it's not like they would ALWAYS have to speak english - they wouldnt. But, it would be bennificial for them and everyon involved. Not to mention if there was a crisis or emergancy how could they communicate with others.
The debate is a historical event and may set the precident for other debates. Maybe they will ALL be translated - who knows. This could be just a campagine stragity..... To gain votes from immigrants. Also, How is that fair why is it not translated into other languages as well? Whats your opinion?

I agree that immigrants need to learn English. It is our official language and a necessity.
But by translating into Spanish I guess it could get more people to actually vote who didn't before because they may understand some things now and feel better educated.

It's actually NOT our official language. We don't have an official language OR religion.
