Why is one school better than another?

Tagged:  •
Education and money. One is dependent on the other. If we didn't have money or for that matter, our goverment wouldn't provide enough money then our education systems wouldn't be very useful. The new education lottery is supposed to go toward education but yet some school systems have yet to see the effects of it. When traveling across the state or into other states for that matter you see this giant schools with three levels and nice athletic facilities for their sports teams. How is it that other school systems can have all these nice facilities and yet some schools don't. Shouldn't all the education money be divided equally so that every school has the same opprotunities as the next school. I don't think that one school is more significant than the other. Or why is one school considered better than the other school. It just doesn't seem fair. If every school had the same amount of funding then these schools with little funding would be able to afford newer programs and technology for their students.

Unfortunately, politics comes into play. All schools should be equal, I agree.

it's really all about funding in the end.

I will agree that funding is definately an aspect to be considered. Better funding means better oportunities for students and it encourages students to be in good facilities. School rankings come from standardized test scores, and the number of AP tests taken by students. Better funding will often boost this, but not always. My school is utterly broke, because we're a magnet school and they school board doesn't feel we need funding, but we're still in the top 50 high schools in the nation. good teachers also have a lot to do with the rankings.
