The Rainforest

I just came across some very disturbing news.  The rainforest which contains half of the worlds cures for illnesses are almost gone.  Every SECOND 1.5 million acres are destroyed.  At this in 40 years the rainforest will be gone! This is in our lifetime!!! This is devastating to thousands of species of animals and plants.  40 years.  That is very soon.  Did you know that one pond in Brazil contains more species of fish than all the rivers in Europe combined? We need to be very concerned about hte enviornment.  This is our wake up call.  If you don't have one of those new fancy energy saving lightbulbs one.  RECYCLE it can make a  huge difference.  Some highschools are now going paperless.  Everything is electronic which cuts down on so much paper saving things like the rainforest which some scientists believe holds the cure for cancer!

We got this bad news too when I was in grade school. My aunts got it in the 70's. Environmental salvage in these areas is directly tied to social justice and humanitarianism. Its a good place to start understanding why a lot of this is dissapearing and coming up with ways to save it, or preserve it.

It's a real shocker when you find this out eh?
I agree.

And what's worse: most schools aren't paperless, there are very few that are. At my high school, it took me two years to get a recycling program on campus, before that, the school was throwing away hundreds of pounds of paper on a daily basis.

How can the biology class that teaches us about rainforest destruction be one of the killers?

ironic eh?

I agree wholeheartedly that we need to save the Rainforests!

I have reiterated the importance of saving the Rainforests in my article which was just written October 2007. Please read my article and ask others to read it. People who consistently eat at fast food restaurants and don't recycle especially need to read these articles to learn why the rainforests are being cut down very quickly and why they are important to sustain life on Earth.
