Tuition... honestly, could it get any worse?

I cried today.

I haven’t done that in a long time – cried.

All I want is for senior year to be over, and for college to begin. But, that might not happen – at least not the way I planed it to happen.

I’m waiting on a miracle.

My miracle -- $12,000.

You see, I want to be a screenwriter. That is what I’ve chosen as my major. Unfortunantly, only 22 schools offer screenwriting as a major. What’s worse is that scholarship searches typically have brought me zilch for results. The problem lies with the fact, and none deeper, that I am unique.

I’m just a kid, who dreams to go to college, so I can learn, meet people, learn, live life, learn, and write scripts. Not those stupid spoofs of other movies, but movies and TV shows with meaning. I want to get people to think, and to see what is actually around them.

I was accepted to the 2nd best Film School in the United States. Tuition is just under $50,000, and I am only $12,000 away. I need scholarships, however the problem is, I can get a page of 50 scholarship search results, and be eligible for none. So what screws this up?

Screenwriting is never included on the drop down menu selectors on application pages, even on film related scholarships. I don’t even get to plead my case. My parents make over the set amount of $30,000 gross average income, so I am apparently not needy. Since I am not attending an Iowa college, I am not eligible for any scholarships given away by the state, because I am not staying in the state.

I don’t want to give up my dream.
I want to go to college.
I want my family to be proud of me.
I want to do this – for me.

This sucks... I'm stuck between a rock, and a brickwall called tuition. I have the confidence to get over this wall, but not the equiptment.

i know what you mean. my parents make more than enough, so i wasn't eligable for anything. no grants. not even loans cause my parents' credit is so bad. i wasn't even thinking about staying in state so no state aid. i also picked a career that is hard to make money. i'm sure that you can get the money some how. did you consider a small loan?

try www.fastweb.com a lot of the scholarships there don't have to be used for any specific major or school. I think this will help you.
