I don't know why I decided to write about this.
Where I live there are a lot of school closings. Due to bad weather and even cold temps lately. We have probably had off about 2 weeks of school including many two hour delays. Now what I don't like is that the superintendent wants to take our spring break away and all these instructional support days that we get to have school off because we missed so many days due to the weather. I don't see where this is fair to the students and even the teachers.
Many students have vacations planned to go on a cruise or to see family members and this time, spring break, is the only time they have to do these kinds of things. Is it really the kids fault that we had to miss two weeks of school. I don't think so.
Another thing is teachers get really mad when they take their instructional support days, which are days where the teachers have time to get everything they have to do organized and ready for the next month of school.
They should either let us go to school in the bad weather or don't have us make the days up. To be honest, I'd rather go to school in the bad weather, then miss spring break. You can't have as much fun in the snow, as you can in florida. Well, I hope many of you get to go there, nice place.

This same thing happend to me a few years ago when we had all the hurricanes in florida! We missed so many days of school, so they ended up making us stay a month longer in school. I think it is something that you are going to have to accept, because I believe the school boards have a certain amount of days that you have to be in school. Sorry bout your luck!
Take Care,
Nikki

It's a hard situation for the superintendent to be in, though. The school needs the full 180 days, so what is he supposed to do? I know it sucks, and it's not fair, but it's no one's fault.
I remember something like that happening a few years back. They were talking about taking away the Monday of Spring Break, but they realized no one would show up, so they just took away an inservice day and put a day on the end of the school year.

I remember when I was in middle school it was like a good 2 and a half feet of snow...and we still had to go to school. Man did that suck considering the fact I fell in the snow twice. At least it will be warm when you have to make up your days right?
