We have to wonder when the illegal immigration problem is out of control. The fact that there are millions of illegal immigrants taking the jobs of natural-born or naturalized American citizens seems a tad uncouth.
What is really unfair is that these illegal aliens are trying to gain protection of their rights under the Constitution, but they haven't gone through the necessary legal procedures to do so. If it so happens that Congress enacts legislation allowing this to happen, it would be a giant slap in the face to all the immigrants who came in legally and took the time to go through the lengthy legal procedures in order to become naturalized.
Besides this is the fact that they want rights when they broke the law. They're coming into the country criminally, but want to be treated as if they are honest, hard-working Americans.
Our government can hardly support our welfare, healthcare and education, without the burden of a population boom as illegal immigrants could create.
They haven't done anything to improve our quality of living, so why would we want to let them come in like this, walk all over our government and get to decide what should happen to them... no punishment, rather legalization.

You xenophobe. Or if you're not, you're sure simple-minded. What most American-born citizens don't realize is that becoming a legal immigrant is not as easy as it sounds, and even though every other American can't stop complaining about how sucks life is, the myth of the American Dreams remain to non-Americans.
there taking jobs that no one esle wants. without them out economy will go down and businesses will suffer.
This is a scenario that I personally cannot understand, the concept of unwanted employment. It is staggering to imagine that in a country with an unemployment rate in the previous year of 5.1%, accounting for 7.5 million people, any job would be considered unwanted. The immigration problem goes further than the facade being sensationalized on television, its roots dig deep into the core of a social system that has made it easy to subsist without employment. It speaks to the withering integrity of a population that would sit on their backsides watching television while they wait for the check from the government to arrive; a check paid for by the earned income of those who do work. Speaking from experience, losing ones job is a terrible experience, especially in a stagnant economy, but to make ends I was willing and did perform jobs that may be listed in the catagory of "unwanted". Shining shoes, busing tables, and washing dishes were all jobs I was glad to take to bring home a paycheck so that I didn't have to lose my house. If need be, I would have worked at any level to stave off poverity. It is a matter of desire, and when you do have integrity (not pride or hubris, integrity) no job would be undesirable when a family's livlihood is at stake.
I've been here 12 years. I'm a permanent resident. I am NOW just getting my citizenship.
You wonder why everyone wants to come to America? This "land of opportunity?"
Go live in a third world country. Maybe you'd be more appreciative of everything that you have here.
"The happiest people are those who aren't materialistic."
"giant slap on face of legal immigrants" -- Well, as an LEGAL immigrant myself, I disagree. As a matter of fact I am frustrated with people using this comment to undermine the importance of a comprehensive immigrantion debate.
I waited my turn for 7 years to come to US. I was little over 14 years old then and could come in with my parents...but by the time my family get called I was little over 21 so I could not go with my parents and come to US. I had to wait additional 6 years to come to US a total of 13 years before I can put my foot in US as a permenant resident. SO...please dont tell me that the current immigrantion rules are not a "slap on my face"..
I want to see immigration rules becoming more favorable to both illegal and legal immigrants. As per my understanding some of these immigrants have been here for more than 10 years...without reuniting with their families so they have already went through the emotional setback I went through. So I believe in a comprehensive immigrantion plan -- one which believes in reuniting families and one which treat all people with compassion.
Remeber....no human being is ILLEGAL.
