Barack and roll...or maybe not?

I live in a wealth of conservative ideals. Or at least, I used to. That is until I was driving to school one day and actually noticed my surroundings in my early morning, pre-caffeine fix stupor. And you know what I saw? "Obama '08" signs. Lots of them. And I mean a lot. This struck me as a little odd, since my previous notion had been that I lived in the type of place where people hear the word "liberal" and run the opposite direction like they were running through hell in gasoline soaked pajamas.

This got me thinking. The sheer number of signs in the surrounding neighborhood around my school sparked a curiosity inside my head. It sparked so much interest, in fact, that during break that day I went to the library and started perusing Obama websites. Keep in mind I have a Ron Paul sticker on the rear window of my car. I am a Conservative through and through, and I am fairly convinced my mind is not going to be altered by the likes of one presidential candidate. As I continued to look through the websites about Barack, something struck me. I don't think my mind could really be changed because I don't hear what this guy is saying. Do you? I hear lots of words but I don't hear a point to them- you know, like a central idea that draws his whole platform together. I hear Hillary's, and I hear Ron Paul's. I even hear McCain through all that war mumbo-jumbo. But Obama, no.

Maybe its just me. But, you know what? I don't think it is. I saw a cartoon in a newspaper a few weeks ago. It was a picture of Obama and Hillary standing on a podium. They both had speech podiums and speech bubbles. Hillary's was small- but she had a couple words you could see. Obama's, on the other hand, obstructed Hillary's. But heres the thing: it was blank. There wasn't a single word in it. Then I understood. This guys a fantastic orator, no doubt about that. And he talks about all this change, but I have to wonder: what he is really changing? Last time I turned on the TV and listened to him talk, I still didn't hear anything. So, maybe I haven't fallen under Obi Wan Obama's spell yet- we'll have to see. Maybe then I can understand what all this "Barack and Roll" business is about. Because I just can't hear the music.

yup! it's hard to really tell where these candidates stand (they seem to tell ppl what they want to hear), but especially him... he doesn't really have a long policy history to follow (except with his reverend... oh good Lord...), and i don't think i've heard him reveal any real, concrete plan for change--just that he wants to change things. well, so do i, but what i really want to know is HOW...

It's true. Barack Obama preaches change and encourages people on and everything...but his claims have no meat to them, so to speak. He's simply a figure head rambling off his speach that someone else probably wrote for him. It really makes you wonder who's really in charge with him...
