Every Tuesday night, I sit in my dorm room and watch The Biggest Loser. I'm not a huge fan of reality television, but this show has really caught my eye. Watching this program has made me wonder why obesity is such a problem in our society. And then I look at our food options, cars, and the media.
It's so easy for people to get in their car, drive to fast food, and go home to watch tv. It's like a daily ritual people get involved in. And when they're at work, they are usually sitting at a desk for at least part of the time. So what can our society do to fix this problem and become healthier?
Well thankfully, there are starting to be better and faster food options for people on the go. Instead of grabbing chips, get some fresh fruit. If you're at home, consider the ZipSteamer bags that you can put vegetables in. When you are eating better, you will have more energy which will increase your willingness to exercise.
But what if you're not the 'exercising type'? Try walking around your home, up and down the stairs a few times, or go outside and enjoy the fresh air. If your at school, walk around the campus. It's so easy to jump in the car and look for the closest parking spot, but try parking farther away and walk the distance. Then, you should start incorporating some more intense training into your daily routine.
The main excuse our society comes up with is the lack of time. There are simple ab workouts you can do, you can eat better, and you can walk around. Just keep yourself moving around!
