And so the suing of XM Satellite Radio continues. Sirius, the competitor, has backed down and given in to the RIAA's demands. XM, however, has not and says it will challenge this to the very end. A little backstory. XM has this little device now that allows users to record songs from their XM feed and listen to them whenever they feel like it. The users have to wait for the song to begin before they can start recording. Sounds a little bit like the good old days of radio, doesn't it? Well, the RIAA doesn't see it that way and still want $150,000 for each and every song downloaded and played by each and every single user.
This, my friends, is all the more reason to fund the local, independant scene. Give your money to artists that aren't with record labels and who aren't under the paws of the RIAA. Stop listening to the crap the RIAA produces and show them that if they have such a problem with this new technological age, they can go stuff it. Honestly, the only way we're going to have a better future, in light of the RIAA and all its shenanigans, is if we stop funding them. Stop buying their crap and soon they'll get the idea that they've gone too far.
