So I have been recentlly hearing about a new national security protection plan that the government is considering putting into place. This plan consisted of allowing the government to listen in and wiretap phone conversations, check emails and use thier resources to invade the private lives of americans in order to keep the country further protected. Of course this would only be done with a very reasonable amount of probable cause right? WRONG! Actually, they would only need a very small amount of "probable" cause and a simple hunch would suffice. I can only imagine the funds that would be neecesary to keep all of this equipment working correctlly and the tax money going towards the people whom will make this their vocation in life. It is ridiculous! How is randomly tapping someone's phone line better help National protection. Or if they had a small amount of basis to go off of, still what someone says about the government or what they think about how the country is being run they have the first ammenment on their side. What they said should not be held against them and then used to invade their lives. Whatever happened to freedom of speech? I don't know. I think it dissappears more and more everyday. Anyways, don't gte me wrong. I think the government should do whatever it takes to keep the country protected but it needs to be within reasonable bounds!

The new bill would wiretap communications coming into the country from foriegn areas, and those wiretaps would only occur if there was reasonable suspicion of terrorist activity or funding. It would not allow them to wiretap domestic communications without a warrant, as that would run contrary to several Supreme Court decisions and, therefore, be unconstitutional.
Get your facts straight, please.
are you not talking about the Patriot Act, which was set in motion in 2001?
Yup, it sounds like it to me too.
