Progressive… it’s such a puzzling word. To progressive means to move on, but as with all words, words have many different meanings for different people. When I encountered this idea blog, instinctively I thought, “What the heck?”
I believe progressive means to move in life, to learn more, and grow form experiences. Before writing this about this topic, I was browsing other blogs and happened upon a particular blog titled “Alot of Selfish People”. I read the comments and… “Eureka!” the answer to the meaning of progressive.
The site is named Progressive yes? This site embodies the meaning of progressive. It takes the musings and thoughts of people and allows for others to read such thoughts and comment about it. In doing so, it challenges them and provokes them to respond, think, and form their own beliefs. It allows us to progress as individuals and become our own unique person.
Progressivism is to grow as a whole unique individual by accepting and forming our own musings. Isn’t that what this site is all about? To progress? Progress in every possible subject… but how? People post blogs, people respond, and yet what can we determine as real progressivism? Well, as long as it affects our individual selves we are still progressing, whether it’s positively or negatively.
Such musings affect our choices for the next day by progressing our ability to think and our ability to form opinions and shy away from the ever growing crowd of herded sheep. After reading about religion, we can choose to progress into a more tight or loose belief system. After reading about genocide, we can choose to make progress in the world by dismissing, helping, or eliminating such acts.
