Man Eats 4.8 Pounds of Turkey in 12 Minutes AP NEW YORK (Nov. 22) - There won't be any turkey for Patrick Bertoletti on Thanksgiving - he got his fill the day before. Bertoletti, a 21-year-old culinary student from Chicago, won the annual turkey-eating contest at Artie's Deli on Wednesday, eating 4.8 pounds of the holiday bird - a full pound more than the second-place finisher.   I feel in our society that condoning eating contests aren't the greatest idea at all! I mean fast food advertisment pull people in enough whereas we don't need contest to help pack on the pounds. I think someone with great power should step up and take the challenge of sayin' As Americans we need to watch our consumption of foods and how much we eat. Poland is the most slim country in the world. There typical eating is: Dinner for Breakfast (steaks, eegs, etc. . .), lunch for lunch, and "tea like foods" for dinner. Eating late at nite can easily cause rapid weight gain. My question arises as should government be lookin' out for us or should the people excersize some control and take the time learn what is good for them. I feel our government has so much control over many things that they should take some interest in maybe promoting commercials are a campaign on MISSION: OBESITY. You always hear about Mission: Stopped School buses for people to stop at crossarms and OPERATION SLOWDOWN for the hoildays but nothing pertaining to the health and its dieases unfortunately. . .Can anyone explain this?
