Foreign Companies in America

The biggest problem with business in the US today is the consumer. More and more people are going to foreign companies for their products than american ones. This is best seen int he automotive industry. Companies such as Toyota and Nissan are replacing companies such as Ford and GM. This transition means one thing, more unemployed americans. Ford and GM have each already closed many pl;ants across the country and excpect to close about ten more each this year. These two companiess provide jobs for millions of americands. If current trends continue these companies will shut down, and with that comes a devastating blow to the economy. If these millions of americans lose their jobs it will start what could be a greater depression than the one we saw in the thirties. To make it worse, our government cant afford to bail us out this time. Foreign companies arent going to stop at the automotive industry. They will continue to invade our countries coorperations until there is nothing less. The worst part, is that we are letting them. The American people need to stop taking the cheap way out and spend the extra money to keep this countries economy running, while the y keep key american coorperations such as Ford and GM in business.

This is also the reason that steel copanies have taken such a huge hit. Workers' rights need to be advocated for this country to make any progress.

Simple economics here, man. Americans buy foreign products because they are better and _sometimes_ less expensive. The problem isn't with the American consumer for choosing a superior product, its with the American company, for not competing well with foreign companies.

And to add insult to injury we have mortgage companies and other corporations sending their customer servicing needs over to India to pay them peanuts while laying off hard-working Americans. I'm all for cutting costs, if you can pass it on to Americans and not lay your workers off.

Make concessions somewhere else. Hire smarter people who don't sit around waiting for lunch. Use cheaper toilet paper. Don't buy such elaborate buildings that cost more per square foot than you pay an engineer per hour. Use some common sense. Fire the drunk guy who works on the assembly line, who cares if he is in the union, he is making mistakes cause he's drunk. Work smarter, not harder.

I've met a lot of people who work in the auto industry, but they don't do much work. Some of them are never in their office and no one knows what they are doing. It's incredibly stupid. It's like middle management is hired for nothing.
