An Intro

Hey guys, how are you all doing out there? I'm Eso, and I'll be posting blogs here until the scholarship competition deadline comes around, or maybe longer if I ever get a feel for posting on a blog regularly. I had signed up prior to the start of the competition, but honestly I forgot and didn't think about it the last month and a half or so. But, after reading and hearing all the news from the political arena over that time period, and being baffled by most of what the people in power are doing, or not doing as it were, I decided to get serious, both about my blogging for the scholarship as well as putting my own thoughts on life and politics into prose.

I suppose I should fill you in on what my views will probably consist of, so maybe you can get a feel now of what I have to offer and if you're interested. I didn't used to like politics -- I still don't to be honest, but back then I didn't even want to talk about it -- I even dropped AP Government after checking out the summer assignment and seeing the amount of absolute crap involved in government today. That was probably a bad decision, both in terms of my college application and the fact that sharing my views with the higher level students would've been a treat, I'm sure. Anyway, the class I ended up taking got me plenty interested, to the point where I was reading politics outside of school.

The first political book I read, Dreaming War by Gore Vidal, sat on my dresser for probably a month before I cracked it open. But, when I finally did, I couldn't put it down. Mr. Vidal went from being completely unknown to me to one of my favorite writers of all time in around 180 pages. His political views, most of them right on point with what I was discovering as my own, coupled with his beautiful writing style, and his use of obscure literary allusions I still don't quite get, were a combination I could not get enough of.

It's time for my conclusion, I know I wasn't able to get to the fill-you-in-on-my-views part, but the writing got away from me. I'm sure those fans of Mr. Vidal will understand some of where I'll be coming from, the rest will have to wait a while longer. Sorry, but I'm way too tired right now. Catch you in the next post.

Peace.

I'm also competing for the scholarship. Have fun. Just get into it and have fun.
