Progress to Save the Earth
Progress is something that the people of Earth have always strived to do, however while we have progressed technologically, we have taken a step backwards as a whole on saving the environment. There are always news stories of lakes and streams now toxic due to spilled garbage, rainforest deforestation contributing to global warming, and landfills filling up quickly. Recycling is something easy that we can all do to stop some of this. I recycle every day although I have a very hectic schedule.
My pet peeve is that when I go to the 4th of July fireworks events there are always thousands of aluminum cans all over the ground along with other garbage. A few years ago I found out that all the Fire Departments around the world have been recycling aluminum cans for burned children. I am now doing my part. The last time I went to a stadium I brought several large garbage bags with me and saved bagfuls of aluminum cans and took them to the Fire Department. It is nice to find out that I had a small part in the Fire Department outreach program http://166.94.9.135/fr/OUTREACH/acbc.pdf through my saving of aluminum cans to help this cause.
Aluminum cans are only one of several different items I recycle. In my area, others and I recycle paper, newspaper, plastic bottles, glass, batteries, furniture, and use compost from recycled trees for replanting in the environment. For more information on the benefits of recycling please visit the URL: http://earth911.org/recycling/ and do your part. Recycling is even done with computer hardware and you can find out where through this URL: http://lifehacker.com/software/gadgets/earth-day-tip--find-hardware-recycling-centers-near-you-253144.php so that you can be a part of the solution rather than a part of the problem.
I hope that this article has inspired you to recycle and tell your neighbors and friends that they can play a part in saving the Earth through recycling. Remember, when you have a party, label a large garbage bag for aluminum cans only and tell your guests that you are saving aluminum cans for burned children. If they care for children, chances are they will participate and you will be helping to save the environment at the same time. After the party, follow-up by taking that bagful of aluminum cans to your local Fire Department. By recycling to save the Earth, you are not only doing it for yourself, you are doing it for a better future for the generations to come.
God blessed this Earth with a green environment, however it is up to everyone to recycle and seek alternate fuels and other resources to keep the Earth green in the future.

It is nice to see that someone is taking action instead of only talking about it. There are to many "thinkers" and idealist in the world right now and not enough doers. Great job and keep it up.
I didn't know about the whole fire department outreach program thing. That's a great idea. It needs more publicity!
