The World in 2100

We need to do something to slow the rate at which global warming is increasing.

If we don’t, by the year 2100 the many world species will have died out. Since the glaciers in the Arctic are already beginning to melt, they will continue to melt and there will be no where for the cute polar bears to live. I’ve always wanted to go see polar bears and I’m sure that my great-great grandchildren would too. The extinction of this species would mark the beginning of mass extinction throughout the world.

Because the seas are getting warmer, the sea life in the coral reefs near Australia will also die out. Both land life and sea life will deteriorate.

Although the rapid increase of temperature will cause certain species to die, it will heighten the number of insects who are abundant in hot weather. With a surplus of insects, there is a greater possibility of the spread of diseases like malaria, yellow fever, and west Nile virus. With the increase in insects, the human population may plunge. The extinction of the human race will begin.

Along with the increase of insects, droughts will increase as well because the rate of snow fall will decrease in the mountains. Drinking water will be scarce in some places while in other areas; there will be too much water. Hurricanes in the gulf coast will get stronger and even more damage like that of Hurricane Katrina will ensue.

I believe that the world’s fate is in our hands. We can stop global warming’s fast pace by buying electrical cars or carpooling so that carbon dioxide will stop feeding heat into the atmosphere. We can also conserve water by turning it off when it’s not necessary. By following these simple steps, I am sure that we can help our offspring live a life in this world like we have, with the four seasons: fall, winter, spring, and summer.

There are a lot of people in the world that don't care. Or just don't realize what they are causing! Great job on explaining global warming and it's effects.

thank you. I wonder what age group is most fearful of global warming. The elderly, adults, or teens?

The world's fate is in our hands, but people focus on monetary situations in the here and how they can help themselves and not how the more costly investment in electric cars and other energy saving devices is really an investment into the preservation of the earth.

A lot of people prefer to live luxurious now and suffer later, wait until the last minute. When they realize how bad global warming can get in two years if we don't do our part soon, it'll be too late.

You mentioned the glaciers melting. I have also heard that since the glacier are melting the water level will get higher and eventually start to flood the land which will also make the human race start to become extinct.

OMG! Yes, i forgot that detail. Thanks for adding this information. It's scary enough to get people involved.

The world will cease to exist by 2100. i think through global warming, nuclear war, and diseases and epidemics there will be a mass extinction. then by 20100 another Cambrian Explosion if the sun doesn't quit on us.

Good point.

what do you think about it. There's facts that prove global warming is happening and according to you there's also proof that its not.

I think people are slowly beginning to realize the effect of global warming, especially after that Al Gore movie that brought awareness at this generation. Sadly I still see my neighbors waste water by leaving their water hoes running through the sidewalks or trash left on the park. I try to recycle paper or conserve electrical energy by not leaving the computer or lights on all night.
